Some questions: Why not take Doom Cast? From what I've seen so far, the spells triggered by CoC also seem to trigger more CoC spells, causing a chain reaction. Adding Doom Cast on your passive tree increases the chances of a chain reaction.
That said, there's some spell dmg and spell crit chance nodes in the Witch starting area that you've skipped as well. It would be a good idea surely to at least get that extra 16% spell dmg. Note, I'm basing this off this skill build in the OP

Why Vaal pact? You're doing virtually zero physical damage, and leech doesn't work with spells. Is this due to Berek's Grip? On that note, Berek's Grip is way too expensive for me. Is there a poor man's alternative? Why not get Static blows and its sister node (chance to shock), it'll give you 20% extra chance to shock and you're already right near the nodes. You've taken an odd route to Mental Acuity. Why not shoot directly from Spell Power to Mental Acuity, through the Freeze node. It'll give you 32% more cold dmg and 5% extra chance to freeze. Why Eldritch Battery? I'm having no mana problems whatsoever, and this is one of the first characters I'm running without Clarity. Barrage seems so cheap, I can just cast it endlessly. I see you've gone Mind over Matter which may be why, but that is a very long detour to go just for that one node. I'll personally be skipping Iron Reflexes as well because as I'm on softcore, I prefer evasion to armor. That said, you've skipped Reflexes (30% increased evasion rating) and it's 2 nodes from your path. Why not snag that, as it adds to your armor? Is Power Siphon instead of Barrage to proc the crits viable? A 6L Voll's is ridiculously expensive. I was fortunate enough to have a Tabula Rasa drop (thank goodness, or I wouldn't even be playing PoE right now) so I'm forced to drop Arc or Fireball. If I can use Power Siphon to generate charges, I can drop Power Charge on Crit and pick up the 3rd element (Fireball or Arc) for extra damage. Obviously with a Voll's even more possibilities open up, but I'm not there yet. I have a 6S Voll's and may end up burning all my fusings on it each time I get a new fusing, but I suspect I will be out of luck. Is Chain viable? Is Lightning Strike viable? Is Arctic Breath viable? Is Chaos damage viable? (I don't know if it works with the spells at all) Spell damage per Power charge I think is a good idea. At 6 power charges it gives you an extra 24% spell dmg, and this is from just 1 node. Well worth it imo. Edit: What the heck is MoM? Mask of Madness? Btw this build is fully viable from level 31 onwards. I leveled to 31 with Spectral Throw, then immediately switched to Barrage + GMP + CoC + Power charge on crit + Ice Spear + Fireball and the damage output was much higher than Spectral Throw already. " You seem to have a lot of questions...You are making this build seem like rocket science when it is not. MoM = mind over matter. You get this because of reflect. Next you get Eldritch battery, once again, for reflect, and also to keep up higher levels of arctic armour. (and it also helps with absorbing big hits). Concerning your questions regarding talent point allocation, I chose the quickest routes to get the most important nodes first. That means skipping some decent ones until a higher level. I dont get the 20% shock chance simply because I crit enough already, so mobs are shocked. Main characters: Deep_water - AnomaIy - Artica

- I took extra spell damage (+16% and +4% per power charge, totals +40%) since my damage felt a bit low. - I took mana and mana regen nodes since I had mana problems. - I only took as many crit notes as I needed to cap myself at 95%. - I didn't take Iron Reflexes since it would only put me at maybe 2000 armor. - Everything dies really really fast, especially bosses and rares. Most rares last a couple seconds at most. Bosses last 5-10 seconds. I believe this is because of elemental equilibrium. At a greater distance, even if all the projectiles hit, the damage is lower. - Before I took the extra mana and regen nodes, I was sitting at 600-700 mana after casting clarity. I found that I'd go out of mana too quickly when hit by mobs or reflect. Those extra nodes bring me to 1047 mana after clarity and boost my regen to about 140. - Elemental reflect was tough at first. Besides the above, I made three additional adjustments to deal with reflect: 1) On a reflect map, I use both a lightning and a fire flask and consume them constantly. Also, I always carry 1 lightning or fire flask in cast of reflect. 2) I linked CWDT to devouring totem to to help bring my mana back up, as reflect drains it completely on large packs. 3) I linked Mana Leech and Life Leech to Cast When Stunned + Cold Snap. - Note on Cast When Stunned: there were instances where I would die rapidly against reflect, and I didn't understand why. I payed close attention and realized my Cast When Stunned + Cold Snap was proccing and reflecting a large amount of damage back at me, draining my mana. So I replaced cold pen with mana leech, and hopefully that helps a little. If that doesn't work, my plan is to just remove cold snap on reflect maps. - Chance to hit seems low. Even with 1418 accuracy rating, the tooltip says 84%. There's not much to to about it but get more accuracy rating. - Attack speed and projectile speed are important. The faster you can attack and the faster you can hit, the fewer opportunities the enemy has to deal damage to you. Also, fast mobs, such as exiles, can be hard to hit. I tend to try to get very close, unload, and hope I survive. - Even without GMP, killing large packs is fine. You just have to move your aim to different sections of a pack. It's actually refreshing to have to aim your shots. - My armor and evasion are pretty low. I usually run maps with another person, who uses Grace, so that helps a lot.
