I'm pretty sure the history of competitive gaming has been mostly based around top gamers being the ones who are best at finding exploits and milking them for all they are worth. It's certainly what speed runs have always been about in most games. When people talk about being good at games requiring skill, they mean things like being able to think of scenarios and exploits that the developers may not have considered.
I can understand why people might think that would take the fun out of gaming, and it's certainly not a play style that most would enjoy, but imho it is legit. Neon was (and still is) a top player in part because he is really good at thinking about this type of stuff and working it out before others. So what did GGG do? They made him GGG_Neon, and deservedly so. Imo if you manage to break the game in terms of balance, you deserve some credit. I realize that might sound weird, but I think it's a legitimate perspective to hold. |

" yet, if the game/sports wants to look competitive and be taken seriously such people should be regularly weed out and loopholes closed. people knew about CoD abusive potential since patch 1.0.2? any gem that says '200+ MORE dmg' will be ruthlessly exploited checking what top25 is doing is a no-brainer sanity activity that i hope is being performed. both regarding exploits and rmt/jsp.. because lets be honest, if they are ok with exploits they will also take any other 'advantage' they can |

Exploitation of mechanics is just another tool in the arsenal. That is not to say it should be bannable, it shouldn't be.

" Read what I wrote again. Neon used to be the top guy for working out exploits before anyone else, and he now works full time for GGG doing exactly that. If it weren't for him I'm sure there would be a hell of a lot more of this stuff going on. Exploits aren't a one time thing that just get fixed and then don't appear again. When one is fixed, another will appear, it's an endless cycle. They have a QA team, and the fact that this seems to be a relatively isolated example of a heavily abusable mechanic is actually pretty solid proof that they are doing a good job, when you consider the ridiculous number of combinations of things that are possible. |

Seriously what did they think would happen when releasing such a gimmicky gem whose only purpose would be to promote level 70 SC zerg play or ridiculous snapshotting abuse? I can only imagine it was a feat to program such a gem but i wish it was spent on additional end game viable active skills.

" The whole trigger gem system has derped the game to an extent. Edit: Wrong choice of wording Sometimes you can take the game out of the garage but you can't take the garage out of the game. - raics, 06.08.2016 Last edited by JohnNamikaze#6516 on Jan 15, 2014, 1:56:57 AM
