I think the game is not bad so far but I think it'd be great in a years time as more people play it in open beta and more patches come along.

Ad hominem fallacy argument.
The games not released yet, the contest is for games released. I wasn't criticizing them, only saying that they are submitting an unfinished product to be judged and also I think the game is good enough to be sold rather then made free and the side benefits would benefit everyone.

That makes no sense. Just because someone replies or doesn't does not make my opinion valid or invalid? A comment doesn't need to be acknowledged to exist as true or untrue, it was just my opinion, they are looking for awards before the thing is even released. It doesn't make any sense, you don't send a half finished work to be judged. I never would, i'd wait till my work was finished and submit it with the quality and standards I deem release worthy. Obviously it's not up to their standards yet or they would have released it and I would have voted for it.
I don't even see how this becomes an argument at all, you don't send a half finished film to be judged for the oscars. Who would?

POE is not the only unfinished game on the list and without a release date scheduled if you look at some of the competition.
However, I respect your opinion.
