More 1.0.0 Information

Cool i created a reversed point blank thread in the suggestions and i am happy it was eventually considered and placed into the game.

Very nice addition, it still allows ranged players to get in close to work around the detriments, but will add a challenge in doing so. Very happy with this, and obviously also with the other changes :)

Spork will still be an incredibly effective build. At a certain point, the dps of any build actually becomes limited by how effectively you can actually dish out the dps. If monsters are already dead before you put a second totem down, then the shock stack change will only be bringing down dps to a fair amount. From lolz big number to just plain OP :D which many builds must be in order to survive high level content. It's a great change, all of them are awesome.

Can't wait for release!

given the leaked passive tree that included several nodes buffing greatly totem damage it might be unreasonable to NOT expect totem nerf.

stuff like 'totem reserves % life' or 'totems drain mana' are probably not possible (the outcry...) but simple dmg nerf or point-blanking them or putting them on cooldown can do the trick

totem builds break risk-cost-MF-clearspeed square by being good at everything so it is about time they get nerfed

Completely agree, good nerf. Having played melee, bow, spork and summoner, spork is actually good at everything. I was eyeing those totem dmg nodes too! :D

Changes to summoners are currently not very loud, but this is the other build that is actually pretty good to get into for MF-quick-safe-cheap. Wonder what will happen here!
Exile is an illusion, exile!
hi, is there going to be a character wipe when 1.0.0 goes live? and will i keep my extra stash tabs?

No, character wipe, but you will have a skill tree reset. You'll just have to reapply/plan your build again.

already happened - Necro Aegis has been moved so it is not available from Templar tree without SOLID detour. this leaves witch that has issues going hybrid and as such is less versatile. i hate that change but oh well..
About reversed point blank.. it all depends on how it is implemented. Not to being negative, but I hope the following is considered:

There is a reversed point blank in the game under the name: Ice Spear. If you have met this said ice spear as melee you know very well that you get often shot and hit offscreen, because you still have to close the gap. The only thing that makes it doable is if you are geared well. That 1 dangerous boss, luckily, tends to close in after the 1st icespear which allows for a melee brawl (not that his melee dmg abilities aren't quite insane).

In PoE it is very hard to take an initial hit and to still close in along the same line, the damage simply doesn't allow for many hits. Often you do be crossing the screen from left to right to close in and than 1/2 way flicker strike, leapslam etc. finally get to work.

Hence reversed point blank might not work as intended if long range hits remove the option for the melee character to move in, if it has to move left and right to dodge the rest, than it is essentially in the same situation as a ranged character, whereas the ranged will do dmg sooner.

So it is important that this isn't just a reversed point blank, but that the whole follow up etc is taken into account.

So much speculation. So much wrong.

Thanks. I'm not sure what you expect when we see 250% life. All we have is what we got in front of us. This is why I've stated IF THE LIFE NODES ARE BUFFED THEN OK... otherwise more boring shit.

It's cool you're on alpha and all and can say so much speculation, so much wrong. I hope you are right.

feel free to speculate objectively. But getting subject with it and posting with emotions involved is pointless.

Nah not emotions really more-so taken back by a few things and the way of thinking by some. I'll be playing either way. Would be nice to see a few things addressed. To me the +500 life is nothing to be excited about. But I digress, if the percentage on some of the life nodes is bumped then cool. Otherwise at least there is more content to grind to higher levels to get to more life nodes.

A little OT but kinda related
Spoiler
One of the main reasons I'm an advocate for life based builds is simply these are the cards (gear) I've been dealt. Now granted I've traded/bought/sold to supplement them but I've not been fortunate enough yet to a nice ES piece to build from and that's crazy seeing as I started in June or July of 2012. So I've exhausted options/builds with life. We'll see how that goes on Nemesis.

Upon release I will definitely be making some ES based characters and builds to give the "new" even more of a new feel. It will be fun..leveling and making builds is the fun part for me, not grinding maps 24/7.

Hmm 8 new maps only? :( I know it takes time but this is release. I was either expecting for endgame changes or atleast a bunch of new maps.

Also can we get an update on Coral Amulets and Iron rings not scaling well? Are there any plans to change this?

But you did see everything these 33 men/women put up for 1.0.0 ? o.O

Its totally not like there is one thread every 2 days with a really, REALLY nice bunch of stuff they worked on.

to GGG: I saw the interview (gamespot) and was already blown away. Since then, every few days, there is another mini-explosion in my brain. Seriously: You guys rock. Keep up the good work.

I have never in my entire life seen devs, which seemed more devoted to their small piece of software. Congratulations!

I see it like this: These guys put up so much for 1.0.0, while still not forgetting about some of the major balancing problems. +2 HP / level is, as mentioned before easily 500HP.
Now, if you have 5k HP, which realyl is a lot: Thats a 10% HP - Buff. Well, you still dont get 8k HP, but thats not the intention. ES-user need ES on their gear, which means they lose all the armour. Thats balancing from GGG. And its clever. And a lot of people like it.
Very exciting. One question, does the life buff apply to already created characers?
