ya, should have saw that first before posting.

Anyway I'm really happy that echo is coming out. Its been needed for awhile. That staff is also a really nice unique.

Unless shields get magically worse, I can't foresee using it over a wand+shield on most casters. It does look pretty, though, and it's not like we have too many caster staves. :P
This staff could seriously use a +1 to all gems mod, since you'll be losing a lot of spellcrit when using it (not to mention cast speed and defenses), it needs something to scale the damage of the spells.

Why do phys damage melee get atziri's axe which can compete with rares, and casters get this gimped thing?

A 7L with a lvl 30 echo might close that power gap your talking about more than you think.

Or you might possibly be right its hard to say. Wand/shields can get more spell damage a long with crit and faster casting. But they won't be able to do 7L's and get a lvl 30 echo either so who knows.

also the 100% more mana shouldn't be overlooked - 2k mana without EB will be quite easy. So perhaps MoM and/or arctic armor can compensate the absence of shield defenses.

There are only two working spellcaster paths - overlevel gems or go crit/crit multi. Some go both. This has neither. Unless level bonus of this support is OP it will suck.

The mana bonus should be overlooked since it is there to cover the obsene mana cost of a 7L spell, instead of devs doing a sensible thing and taking a serious look on the disparity of mana cost between attacks and spells.
