Minutes before the patch was finalised, the supporter raised a question about the item. We decided to disable it from dropping with the intention of turning it back on almost immediately just in case there was going to be a small change to it (so that we don't immediately create legacy versions).
I intended that this would be done within 24 hours, so I kept it in the patch notes. It looks like sorting out whatever the issue was is taking a few days longer, but I'm pretty sure we'll be turning it on on Monday.

Normally I can see why they post some things on reddit. The fact this wasn't on the official forums kind of irks me.

Just curious.. what's GGG's problem with just blanket nerfing gear instead of creating legacy.. like literally every other game in existence does .__.
Mostly technical limitations. It was estimated that it would take 12 hours of downtime to nerf legacies down and that was before we had release and 1.1.0 nerfs. It's a pain to do and will make a lot of people angry, so ggg lets standard do their thing.
If anyone believes this 'texhnical limitations' stroy in 2014.. then i have a very nice bridge for sale. First owner!

When they changed those 2 unique a long time ago, wasn't the down time pretty long IIRC?
Edit: And I believe let's standard do their thing is part of the reason.

GGG have openly stated it was due to technical limitations initially.. they even explained why.

As a common visitor of /r/pathofexile, I'm fine with how active devs are there but seriously I think this should be posted on forum.

Added five new unique items, four of which are designed by our supporters. One of the uniques is a unique map.

Truly agree. GGG, please come back to your own forums. This is where it should be.
That aside, thanks for the clarification on the 5th unique drop. Looking forward to seeing it when it is released.☆〜(ゝ。∂)
