[1.0.0] Dodge/evasion Lightning Arrow Frenzy Ranger with video by boxsalesman, UPDATED FOR RELEASE

You think after the new patch ranger is better than duelist for lightning arrow? Many have advised me to go with duelist for la because he has more damage and the same survivability. I have a lvl 68 ranger and no points used, thinking of going phys this time. Also started a duelist and making him an la build, he's low lvl tho. thx (I have a 5L 3 ele thicket bow with 228 dps, but can be changed for phys if it's more viable for ranger)

Thanks for thoughts on lioneye that was really helpful one more question though: you say to aim for kaoms and if we do just use a 4L for frenzy. however, that would mean taking out one of the four links already in there. Do you recommend dropping the curses with the totem, the auras or the bear traps?

Definitely drop the bear traps in the endgame build , they're mainly ment to offset the lower single target damage at lower gear levels against high resist monsters. I'll include this in the original post , thanks for pointing it out.

Depends what you're into, really. Personally I'm sort of obsessed with attack speed and think it's the sexiest stat, so I've started almost the same build with a duelist, and with Split Arrow. It's a difference of (even with the improved ranger tree) 16% attack speed near the start and 28% with the duelist. Furthermore, Split Arrow doesn't require LMP/GMP, so you can use Faster Attacks with it and that's an additional 44% attack speed with no quality. The tradeoff is less of a convenience to delve into the tankiness of the marauder tree, since duelists still have to reach into the ranger zone for +weapon ele damage nodes and all and for rangers, this is purely 'on the way,' so to speak. So my findings are that even though this is a solid ranger build, a similar one for a duelist is a bit more my style.

But then there's the resentment of how much sexier Lightning Arrow is...

1) Lightning penetration gives a MUCH higher damage increase on overcapped light resist targets ( as penetration does work against overcap while elemental weakness curse doesn't )
2) Lightning penetration is a more multiplier while faster attacks is increased , it might seem less damage but it is in fact superior to faster attacks.
3) Faster attacks will get you killed easier on lightning thorns, and lightning thorns is the nr 1 cause of death for this build.
