" Food for thought - if GGG were the cold-hearted capitalists you're saying they are, don't you think they'd be going with far more of a P2W system? Either way, I appreciate being able to disagree with someone and the debate not devolving down to petty insults :) |

New packs are bad ass. Great job GGG!
I feel bad for those that couldn't wait and spent all their dollars on basic points already! IGN: _Blue_Box_

" Who said P2W was profitable? This seems profitable enough as it is for them.... And the economics behind this probably lasting longer with a more stable income is probably higher. Aslong as they can keep you sheeple buying the same re-hashes...Who cares about new content....hahahahah this is a capatalist's dream!! like George lucas selling the same updated versions of star wars on different types of media and copyrighting it so that noone else can improve it...Then selling it to disney.....Or selling game moddifications only to the highest bidders.... lol...just food for thought.... www.tachi203.com : For live streams, gameplay, news of me +(. Ok yeah you do get it ;), you got me there a bit. I tend to do the same if I get unreasonable responses I tend to flame and become offensive in return. Just to annoy the forum moderators and GGG so that maybe they change their forum policy. I always manage to do this on the balance line so no probation yet. Must say haven;t done it this week and I let a few opportunities slip.
Take for example the dual wield weapon effect argument. One person at least called people that brought this up whiney ptiful QQ-ers. I think his post should be immediately deleted as it is a valid argument. The only valid counter argument would be: currently technically this is not possible, or: it is better that dual wielders buy the effects two times, no matter the cost. I see this as the best sales strategy GGG can do." Instead you have to live with the pathetic flame and total non discussion. Seriously moderation could step a lot as far as I am concerned. I do feel like still quoting this guy and turning on the flame war only way to get a thread completely cleaned up it seems :D " No they are not, but I think from my post it is a fair observation they could have done better and more considerate. They are certainly capable of doing that and they have shown in the past, but I think they slip up here. I also think making deals for existing customers is something they should look at. Entice me to spend another $50, I think something could have been done with these support packs in that regard. It is all about mental game. (btw in before people calling me cheap and a beggar. Fact is everyone would like to get a deal others can not, or to get a deal at all). Example is the take-out Chinese I often go to. I am a regular customer so I get some freebies with each meal. Than other people sometimes get pissed they don't get the same, but I am getting rewarded for coming there so often. If this game doesn't draw in new players or "new money" than building a good relation with existing customers can be very important and they missed an opportunity here. They took that opportunity with the stash tab dealio form cb to ob. Existing customer deals, make them spend money again by giving them a deal. Pre-order bonus 1 year subscription, cheaper per month than 1/2 a year If we sell so many of X, everyone will get Y as a bonus. There are so many tricks in the books to use. That area nice gesture between client and company. One of the things I am also still annoyed with is the damn archaic stash tab transaction effect system in the game and a total lack of a proper ingame-store. I think GGG should get something done here prior to the full game launch. It won't be much game content, but purchase experience is better and they can better advertise their products for once. There is a fair portion of game crowd that don't visit the website at all. Even if a button in the game makes a window pop up. Seems not that they are bad guys at all, in fact even nice, but they are not strategically "nice." That might be something they are lacking. Earlier in the thread Chris mentions some point swapping is possible to get a discount to a purchase. This seemed more on a hindsight, but a lot could have done in preperation Last edited by Ozgwald#5068 on Jun 7, 2013, 12:06:08 PM

" Actually, if they were smart capitalists, they would never go for a P2W system since overwhelming majority of their community is against it - that means less revenue in the long run. Instead, they would keep extremely warm relationship with their players and play on their hearts rather than their brains. They would make themselves out in a poorer light, frequently mention how they are just scraping by due to paying all the costs and that they really hope to get some more revenue in the future to keep making the content for a game they really really love. Of course, that's only if they were calculating, manipulative capitalists. Sidenote: There is no way designing a new monster actually costs 12,5K. Assuming development is ongoing and more areas with more monsters will be introduced in the future, the monster that the player designs will simply take the space of another monster in an appropriate area, that would have to be developed. Therefore yes, you have to create a monster now, HOWEVER, you save yourselves the costs of developing one in the future. And considering how long it takes for custom items, custom monsters will probably come alongside their new areas anyway. So the only additional costs to making a player-inspired monster are the costs incurred in communicating with the player and fine-tuning everything to a slightly different standard. Definitely not 12,5K. |

" Did you not notice the regular patches for the Free to play game that have been adding skills, content, and cool events? They are a business, but I don't know if the money they've made so far has even covered the development costs - I'm happy to keep supporting them as I've spent more time playing this free game than D3 & Torchlight 2 combined. *Now with added Kiwi*
