Anyone know why mine is still pretty high? Should I contact TPG?

Im in Melbourne and mines around 100-150ms :(

run a tracert to see if your packets are being routed strangely. (I had issues with the DNS servers my ISP originally told me to use) when I had reset them i went from ~200ms to ~50ms latency from NZ to the Australia gateway.

Thanks for your help man

Tracert test 1:

Tracing route to au.login.pathofexile.com [119.252.190.195]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

1 1 ms <1 ms <1 ms 192.168.0.1
2 17 ms 17 ms 17 ms 10.20.20.196
3 16 ms 16 ms 16 ms 202.7.173.113
4 18 ms 17 ms 16 ms nme-sot-dry-crt2-ge-0-1-0.tpgi.com.au [202.7.173.53]
5 28 ms 27 ms 28 ms syd-sot-ken2-crt1-ge-0-0-0.tpgi.com.au [203.29.135.225]
6 28 ms 28 ms 29 ms syd-sot-ken2-crt1-ge-0-0-0.tpgi.com.au [203.29.135.225]
7 28 ms 27 ms 28 ms p56106.syd.equinix.com [202.167.228.43]
8 29 ms 28 ms 27 ms 119.252.190.195

Tracert test 2:

Tracing route to au.login.pathofexile.com [119.252.190.195]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms 192.168.0.1
2 16 ms 22 ms 16 ms 10.20.20.196
3 31 ms 18 ms 17 ms 202.7.173.113

Trace complete.

Looks ok to me no ?

I only played for about an hour last night, ill test it again tonight

It's already been said by most, but the gem socketing, picking up items, zoning between areas, all so much better with the lower ping time. Gonna be great when the freezes get sorted out!
Yep ping is great but lag spikes are devastating, should be great once the slideshow is sorted.
I'm on the other side of the world and this thread is still making me smile. Cool to see you folks from the neighborhood will be up to speed now. :)

GGG keeps on bringing the goods!

yep. looks absolutely fine.

by that tracert result you should see about 30-40ms latency reported in-game. check again this evening, otherwise it maybe something your ISP is doing like some kind of packet shaping or perhaps something in your router that's caching packets too heavily rather than just transmitting them as-is.

ok thanks for your help man, maybe because when I tried it, it was peak hour? Not sure, ill test again tonight, and also do another tracert and post here...

Ill get onto TPG if the ping gets higher...

Hey guys

Got a chance to use the Australian Gateway last night

It was an improvement from my normal 200-250 ping from the SG gateway

Im getting about 100-130 ms on the Aussie gateway, I am in Melbourne and on TPG ADSL2+

I was expecting the ping to be a little lower then that being an east side AUS gateway and all

Can anyone else post what theirs is and their ISP/location please?

Is mine normal ?

Mine is TPG ADSL 2+ but i get 30-40 ms and i am in bundoora.
No food in fridge... Beer it is.
Hey thanks a bunch GGG.

80ish latency from Perth Western Australia.
Same lag spike issues as the others so only played for about 10 minutes last night, but I am very excited for when this is all resolved.

Will def be buying another supporter pack when be new ones are released :-D
Keep up the good work.

Thanks

30-40ms from Auckland (Snap) but 1-2 second spikes frequently.
We are applying some changes to the Australian gateway to prevent the lag spikes people have been seeing. It should be back soon.
