Yet another death to something with no counter play...
This is a well trodden discussion, but guess what, the arguments for the massive amount of death penalties still don't hold up.
I'm level 91 and I'm pretty much maxed out on everything. I'm maxed out on damage potential, resistances, movement speed, defenses...everything. I have top gear, and can survive 90% of stuff I encounter... but that 10% is preventing me from levelling because of GGG's terrible decision to keep this archaic system in place (all of the death penalties). And the thing I died to is rare and new, so how the f*** am I supposed to prepare for that GGG? What lesson am I supposed to learn from from some new 1 shot thing that I can barely even see because of visual clutter that wastes hours of leveling experience? And you could say "oh, I can prep for the next time", but the way GGG designs their game, I'm not going to come across it for another 10 hours, so how am I supposed to practice for it? I just don't see the wisdom of slowing the game down so I have to make this thing a full-time job to get practice on things that 1 shot on me. Where is the wisdom in that? Having little counter-play for things with high 1 shot potential that I can't get a lot of practice on because of how slow the game is, but then get punished by GGG because I don't have practice on it due to their slow game. I'm trying to stick it out, but it's getting impossible with them. Last bumped on Feb 28, 2025, 8:49:59 AM

Yeah, it'd be one thing if you used up all your flasks and were in a situation you should calm down and go a bit slower for a while...
...but no, you can die with all your flasks. And we get 7-10+ easily.... There are very few scenarios where I utilize my flasks, whittling down to 0, and then die. It's always just some random thing that you can't see, with no death log, with full flasks. Maybe I'm not being super clear, but I find it pretty funny that we have so many flasks but the game isn't designed around medium damage and flask consumption, it's implemented with huge damage one-shots with very little room for any actual strategy. |

If you don't want to practice and increase your skill, you should choose game where skill doesn't matter and you can just farm without thinking about anything. In PoE 2 it supposed to matter, and it hopefully will matter even more in upcoming updates.
I have almost 2k life, 0 evasion or ES, some of my resistances are negative, playing off-meta buils, still I am dying only when making mistake, there are 0 random deaths for me. Last edited by Suchka_777#4336 on Feb 26, 2025, 7:07:02 PM

Being able to survive 90% of stuff is pretty bad to be honest that late in the game. That is dying 1 out of every 10 maps. You need to be running maps with 99 survivability rate to be going anywhere. At level 99 if I died every every 10 maps it might reset me back to 98 lol.
A lot of people consider 90-95 kind of their stopping range and getting to level 100 isn't their goal. Maybe this could be a consideration for your goals? |

My favorites are still
1 - Move mouse back and dodge/roll, but somehow I roll forward into the mass of mobs and 2 - I dodge-roll, but in place, and dont move anywhere. These two things are 100% NOT avoidable and kill me on difficult maps with alarming regularity. The death penalty is highly unfair when you can die to bugs like this. |

"You can avoid first by checking settings of dodge aim and second by not dodging into wall. |

I find it hilarious when people suggest skill issue, when in reality they actually mean getting the gear to one-shot bosses so they don't have a chance to attack at all.

" That is kind of the skill part of poe though, knowing how to acquire the gear that will make a build capable of clearing the content. There really isn't much skill in terms of reaction time or dexterity to ARPG's. |

" In other words, you haven't reached late endgame and have no clue what people are complaining about. |

" I'm clearing T15 maps just fine. Most players just have no clue where skill ceiling is. Last edited by Suchka_777#4336 on Feb 26, 2025, 10:13:00 PM
