POE 2 melee combat is PEAK and I don't think this is being properly valued

I have to kind of agree. I dont think melee combat is in the best place from a balance perspective, but it is the most fun to play. I was hesitant to start a warrior due to everyone bitching about it, but its been a ton of fun. The big aoe slams and chunky contact are super satisfying. My monk is infinitely better from a "clear the content" perspective, but the warrior is just a good time. They just need to figure out the dmg/def balancing for a class that has to be up close and personal all the time. The risk/reward factor definitely tils way too far in the wrong direction.

don't worry, warrior is weak only in party, for a solo player it's totally enough with mace, just don't use all armor pieces but armor and es piece, which will make you about 3500-4500+hp and 2500-3500+es with grim feast,it's low budget.

armor is really weak because it actually trade off ONLY physica damage reduction to one shot line for all kinds of damage.

For sure. I play a lot solo, and when I party up with friends we're just messing around so nobody really cares about efficiency or having uber strong builds. I doubt ill take the warrior much passed ~lvl 85 anyway. between the other characters im playing, by the time i hit mid 80s with the warrior they'll hopefully drop a new class to play with the reset.

melee peaks around t10 maps.

After that it is extremely slow and weak.

Though not including herald of ice or thunder, haven't test that.

It just lacks a screen clear ability.

Which you may say, you don't want to do that, you want to hack and slash and spin and dance.

And you can.

But ultimately in POE, people want to clear the screen.

if you care about these build videos, you should know they NOT lack a screen clear ability.
they just slow for first damage deal(even totem is slow because of slow attack speed) combine with close range(if you dont use totem) and poor defense and poor one hit line.

The Warrior combat feels very meaty.

I agree they did a stellar job with the sound effects and animations in general.

Unfortunately it's not as fun as it looks for most people coming from other ARPGs due to the unintuitive way in which you "level up" your skills.

Warrior can be very satisfying to play endgame when you have the right passive tree, items, and hit a certain threshold in your stats AND have the proper supports in your skills --- but for leveling it can feel almost broken at times.

I'm really curious what the will do with swords and axes.

I'm playing a Warbringer spamming Earthshatter spikes and exploding them with Warcries and it's ridiculously satsifying.

My Warrior is screaming at the top of his lungs every two seconds or so while blowing up enemies.

It took more time to be playable in SSF requiring enough Attack Speed but is more fun than Sunder/Aftershock totems.

Melee can feel clunky if you dont have the proper build but it is the most satisfying for me.

Can't wait to play a female melee class perhaps the Huntress?
I struggled with my Monk so god damn much because of the falling thunder + killing palm combination.... Damn, I struggled for hours with this. I really hated the last boss in ACT2 (Jamanra) because i did not had currency to trade and I did not get better uncut skill gems skill dropped for hours...

Once I put my Tempest Flurry skill + bell combo..things changed for the better.
I stayed with this combination from lvl 30ish something until lvl 50.

Then I changed to Herald of Ice, Heral of Thunder, Ice Strike, Charged Staff and tempest bell.
Dayum, it is so amazing..it works so good.

I struggled a lot with the monk, but once I managed to run two this last combination, I was unstappable.

I just started tier 5 maps in endgame and I'm still having fun. I hope I will be able to keep going.

A VERY IMPORTANT NOTE THOUGH
Your quarterstaff for the monk is very important.
I was lucky enough and someone gifted me a better quarterstaff which has allowed me to keep going.

GGG really needs to improve the drops, or at least to allow us the chance to craft our items better.

I used 150 exalts, 95+ regal orbs and maybe around 70 vaal orbs... I NEVER GOT A GOOD QUARTERSTAFF BY MY OWN....and this sucks...at least it sucked for me.

I jsut don;t understand why crafting your own items is so damn hard...
All I'm asking for is just some good rolls for physical mods...... :))))

I agree. I got a lot of fun with my Cultist Mace Titan. It is smooth even on T15 maps.

I guess it is not so well known because the game lacks "Splash" gem (except through Cultist Mace), so people are using Mace Strike mostly for bosses only.

About defenses, I disagree that it lacks. I mean, other strategies are clearly OP, but you still can reach with cheap items more than 4k life, >80% resist and >50% block chance. That is more than enough to do any content this game has to offer currently.

obviously you never play in a 6 mans party, maybe your solo is near enough, but in party even 10k one shot line is in danger,4k with melee and slow attack?you will die every map at high level(t16+).
Even worse, your damage is not enough in it as well, when others still can one shot mobs over a screen

Of course I mean it for solo. If you're playing a strike skill on a full party while mapping with ranged players with decent builds, you won't be touching any mobs, be it on poe2 or poe1 LOL.
Good you enjoy it, but i dont think most people agree with you.

party is not stay so close and is not so powerful
a spark stormweaver to be a dps;a summoner with 15+ske to be a tank;a time stop chronomancer for bosses;a invoker,a blood mage and me.
in full party game even spark can't clear tanky monster instant, though still quick, but invoke and me can strike it :D
make melee great again
