⭕️POE1 Players Are Getting Screwed Over, and It’s Honestly Disgusting⭕️

Alright, I tried to be patient. I really did. When PoE2 was first announced, I was actually excited. A sequel, but not really a sequel, just a massive update to the game I’ve sunk over a decade of my life into? Sounds great. But here we are, years later, and I’m just done with this entire situation.

GGG has completely abandoned PoE1 players. People who have spent thousands of hours, thousands of dollars, building up their accounts, their MTX, their experience in a game that was supposed to be evolving, not dying. And what do we get? Nothing. No meaningful leagues, no cool little side events to keep us engaged, just a barren wasteland of stagnation because “PoE2 is coming soon.”

And let’s be real, this isn’t even a new issue. If you’ve been playing PoE1 for a while, you know this has been happening for years. Every time the game started feeling rough around the edges, we got the same excuse:
“Yeah, we had to divert some resources to PoE2, but we’ll get back to improving PoE1 soon!”
Again and again, PoE1 players were asked to be patient, to wait just a little longer, because PoE2 needed resources “for now.” But now that we’re here? It turns out “for now” actually meant forever. PoE1 has been on life support for years, and we just didn’t want to admit it.

And the worst part? The people hyping PoE2 the hardest aren’t even the real PoE player base. It’s mostly D4 refugees—the same crowd that played Diablo IV for one season, got bored, and bounced. The same people who hated seasonal content in D4, but now act like they’ll be in PoE2 for the long haul. Spoiler: They won’t. These players aren’t the type to stick around for multiple leagues. They’ll come, play one or two seasons, and then move on to whatever shiny new ARPG is next. And when that happens? What’s left? A gutted PoE1 and a PoE2 that was built for tourists, not the dedicated community that kept GGG alive all these years.

Like, at least throw us something. A fun little Mayhem event? A tiny balance pass? Anything to show that PoE1 isn’t actually dead before PoE2 even releases? But nope. They just expect us to sit here and wait while they pull the rug out from under us.

I didn’t hate PoE2 before. I really didn’t. But after years of excuses, after watching a game I love get slowly suffocated, I can’t help but resent it now. PoE1 players were loyal. We were invested. And now we’re just discarded in favor of a new player base that won’t even stick around.

100% agree with this, needed to be said and hope they listen!
It's exactly what I hoped wouldn't happen. PoE 1 is way too good in comparison to PoE 2 and GGG doesn't want any of the new players to know it because it will hurt PoE 2. They could release a filler league but they don't want anyone playing PoE 1 so they won't.

PoE 2 is 2 years away from being a good game, if it gets there. Nothing is in a good place (and I'm glad big streamers have finally said so so that everyone doesn't have to keep pretending it's good.) This delay will do nothing except potentially serve as a death sentence for PoE 1.

That will be your truth or vision of the matter, I have been a POE player since it came out and I love POE 2, even though it is an EA with little content, and I think it is good that they allocate resources to strengthen POE 2 because it is very, very underdeveloped and you are only looking at everything from your navel, if you were in GGG's place, what would you have done? Stop earning more money to take care of POE or allocate the resources that POE 2 needs so that it comes out with much more content than it has now and also earn more money?

Yes, it is wrong that they promised something they could not deliver in any way, because they are a small studio and they are not going to be able to maintain two games at the same time and it has already been seen that they cannot, in that part we agree and I can understand your anger and frustration but also put yourselves in the place of the company, EVERY COMPANY WANTS TO MAKE MONEY, GGG has never been different from the rest, or do you think the skins that GGG has always sold over these 12 years are cheap? If there had been no profits there would have been no leagues and there we would all be forever, with nothing because there are no benefits.

But they literally did decide to stop earning money. Do you think the tourists are shelling out 50m a year for PoE2? You might be severely underestimating how much PoE1 makes when it has its proper content release cadence. Everyone is acting like PoE2 is some huge cash cow when it's been a cash sink for a long time and will continue to be one for a while before it is actually a full game that can generates recurring revenue. That single EA buy-in isn't going to carry the cost for long and unless they pull nothing short of a miracle with the next few patches they will absolutely need PoE1 to pick up the slack. Question is how much all that burned goodwill has cost them now in revenue going forward.

Well some people're still mad crusader kings 2 don't get any updates. Guess gamers never change.

I played PoE1 since 2013 and i'm totally ok with them focusing on the sequel. It is in a MUCH better state than poe1 was a decade ago ffs.

Since when was Crusader Kings 2 a live service game?

And? is like saying "omg i bought so many skins and spent so much money, so you will never close this game cause then my money goes away".

That's not how games work kid (and i say kid due yout mentality) money spent on a game = money lost, you buy the experience, the fun you get with the game and that's it, everything else will be lost one day or another.

and i keep reading the entitlement everywhere "poe2 that was built for tourists, not the dedicated community that KEEPS GGG ALIVE ALL THESE YEARS" well ty for your money but still you owe nothing unless you actually OWN a part of the company.

If not, you are just one more customer, they can and will live without you

It's so sad to see how extreme people here react.
Thanks to Jonathan for putting up a clear line of communication.
I think the problem is some PoE1 players invested so much time in this game, thwt they can't differentiate anymore if they're abandoned by their actual parents or GGG as its stand-in.

You do realize the communication IS the issue, right? GGG as of late have a bad habit of overpromising and underdelivering

no one can see the future, and i'm pretty sure they never expected the backlash from endgame content poe2 received, so yeah, i think the only problem with GGG is the community they created, entitled kids, they should've been like every single other company and just give mediocre content from the start so they never expect more from them, like a few big games out there do.
