Allow socketing of corrupted items
As the title says i do not think it would be bad or detrimental to allow players to socket corrupted items. The shrines that corrupt items and trials of chaos pretty much are just pointless rewards no one takes or uses due to the fact that they are always bad and even if you get one that is workable it may not have a socket so its bricked off the get go. I know POE 1 had an item i believed called tainted oil that allowed modifications to corrupted items but POE 2 does not have that even though the option exists.
Now i mean it may come later as things progress but as of right now corrupted items have no use dropping and should not even exist in the games current state. Ideally adding a function to allow socketing a corrupted item as a band aid fix like how the flask break down is also a band aid to a later implementation would add benefits to the trials and shrines that corrupt. The trials reward system is horrendous due to this glaring issue. You could quite literally remove the item rewards and just make the bosses drop a soul core and it would be the exact same situation we are currently in. Last bumped on Jan 29, 2025, 9:05:35 AM

What do you mean when you say "socketing"? Couse you can socket (put runes into) corrupted items. I don't know if you can replace the runes, but for sure you can socket the empty slots.

" Adding a socket to a corrupted item that does not have a socket is what i am saying. It makes no sense that you cannot add a socket to a corrupted item. You are not changing the values of the item you are putting a slot into it. There is no fundamental reason why you should not be able to make a socket on a corrupted item. |

" That's how corrupted items work.....you get them ready prior to corrupting, and then roll the dice. It is precisely the point of corruption to have the item unalterable afterward. You say it makes no sense you cannot add a socket to a corrupted item. It would make no sense to even have corruption if that were the case. Corrupting is the *last* thing you should be doing to gear. socket it and add quality first. Then hit it with the vaal.
It's not something that needs to be fixed. It's just a mechanic that people need to learn to do in the correct order. |

for the things you choose to corrupt, no thank you.
for trials of chaos specifically, maybe they could add a "corrupted artificers orb" drop that can only be used in the current chaos run and disappears when you leave. it would allow you to add a socket to the one of the items you find in there. almost all the items you get in there are not good so i doubt it would really be a big deal, that said its not really an issue to me. |

" Did you read the post at all? i am not talking about items you corrupt i am talking about items that come corrupted from trials and what have you. I would advise to read the post before replying |

" Read the post before commenting. i am talking about trials almost exclusively here not player made corruption |

It doesn't matter where they came from: "corruption" itself is the end of the process.
Whether you are doing the corrupting, or the game is doing the corrupting... Is irrelevant. Starting anew....with PoE 2 Last edited by cowmoo275#3095 on Jan 28, 2025, 7:06:42 AM
