Atlas shouldn't be infinite

It's not meant to be a thing you 'complete'

I never said it was meant to be completed, merely that it COULD.

Some people have reading comprehension issues.

Good news.

You can for sure run out of the atlas as there is no way that it's actually genuinely infinite just like the Factorio map isn't actually 'infinite'.

Making it big but not infinite makes it so you can at least have the illusion of completing something. Sometimes less is more and infinite just makes it feel worthless/meaningless to explore.

I don't disagree.

They could introduce the concept of "sectors" or "regions". Each region can have a number of towers. Then you could have the reward from completing one such "region".

This could have been a way of expanding the Atlas tree as well.

Maybe they already had this planned. I mean the concept of having regions/sub-maps is very obvious.
Again I must reiterate I don't mean the Atlas should be small, it should be vast, I'm thinking about 5-7 screens worth of scrolling in every direction. But no more than that, this should be plenty of space over a full league and pathing around a finite space becomes more interesting/rewarding.

Also rather than make things rarer the further you are from the start, why not make it rarer the more nodes you complete, this makes it so you end up scrolling less through the map after some time in the league, and making concentric circles around the start area is a viable strategy.

Wrong, the whole point of the Atlas is that it IS Infinite, this is by design, and backed by Lore.

If you want competition, there are End Game Bosses, for which they will add more as Leagues are released, then they will likely add Uber versions of past bosses as well, this is your completion.

Well im pretty sure GGG will make sure noone will ever complete the atlas and i am pretty confident that if it turns out that there is a theoretical chance that it has an end, they will just expand it if someone actually comes close to finishing the atlas. It is meant to be infinite/uncompletable by design so people never run out of content or brick their atlas in standard league. No idea why you call it "good news", that would be terrible game design for a game that is meant to never end

They could make a new type of waystone that generates a much smaller/finite layout (when used in the map device)

That they could keep it less tedious to scroll around the atlas - currently you lose track of an "overview" of your progress the more maps you run

Also could help keep the initial design of failed map = bricked connection, so if you brick all remaining connections to progress, you can slot in another "atlas" waystone

its not infinite, factorio world is infinite, poe2 can be only interacted on its boundary. very different. its just a messy UI for random generated content

Technically it's finite. There is an edge, good luck reaching it.

Yeah, I think the edge should be earlier though, like scrolling 10 screens maximum, after that it becomes exacerbating to navigate around.
Atlas needs to remain extremely big/infinite.

The reason you feel it should not currently is because it is barebone. It does not yet have real incentives to explore.

As they add content and likely quests or even stories to it, you will see why it needs to be the way it is.

A lot of things we complain about currently, such as trial of suckmyass, are also likely to be mitigated as the planed content is added to the game.

We can't forget it's an early access missing more than half the content of the final game.

Then again, I'm the first being impatient and wanting everything now, but it's obvious GGG can't do that. They already delivered some serious content in EA, can't really blame them for taking their time to add more.
