The fact that there are SSF and HCSSF characters at 100 at 99 shows that trade is in fact not mandatory: https://pathofexile2.com/ladders
Plenty of people will indeed quit PoE2 because it's not the game that suits their playstyle. That's ok. You can't please everyone - and most importantly you shouldn't try to.
If there was a mode with no trade, but with a party (it can be implemented, described details once in poe1 topic), would gladly play it. Otherwise, have to bear with this economy just because solo is very limiting to begin with.

So play in trade league with your friends and don't trade?
It's super common to just play with friends and only 'trade' via the guild stash.

that's right what is up with these people, just don't trade. Trade is NOT a problem. PROGRESSION IS. Please correctly direct your anger.

The game's balanced around trade so yes, trade is a problem for everyone, if you choose to participate in it or not. Progression is also balanced around, what? Trade.
Keep complaining about "progression," which will never be changed, because you can buy amazing rares for 1ex. Why fix crafting? You can just buy botted up rares on trade. No need for low or mid level crafting.

I see my friends doing it but I have no interest in using that system. I'm stubborn. I'd rather there be a system in the game to build up to allow for better rolls and/or better chances for stats. not necessarily craft with the stats that you want in a nice quick fashion, that will take the lottery feeling out of the game and loot wont matter as much.
Trade feels like a band-aid to the game. It feels like I'm cheating myself, similar to looking up builds.
----
You could even add it just to SSF.. to allow people to still rely on trade. Make SSF more for someone who doesn't want to interact with other people and not be punished for it.
----
I'd rather sink some currency/materials into a system to guarantee an improvement on an item. just just orbs that randomly help.
---
I could never have enough time / attention span to stick with poe1, felt too much like a time sink.
I'm liking poe2, the gems outside of the items is wonderful.
------
They've spoken about the game economy and how it matters. but a lot of the system can negate the economy, in that it's not needed. Just allow for increases in costs the more you use them and a decay to lower them over time if not used.
If worried about exploits, test on SSF to see if it works in theory.
I dont think its that unpopular. I hate the current trade system and wish they would put in auction house in already, jeez.

Bro, again, it is progression. So you should complain about the absurdingly stupid rngs and the stupidly fast-paced content past act 1; not trade.

I urge you to try Last Epoch which has a system that separates trade from a drop rate boosted system.
11th hour put in a lot of effort into trying to accommodate players who see trading as the enemy by creating the "Circle of Fortune" faction for them.
See how that's worked out for them.

I get you. I don't like trade either. I almost quit PoE1 a long time ago, but then I found SSF and loved the game again.
I feel like with trade, the game plays you. You aim to do what the market tells you to do. But in SSF, you play the game how and when you want to. It's like the difference between a job and a hobby.
That being said, I think trade - or the online interaction with both cooperation and competition - is the difference between a niche ARPG and a popular ARPG. A single player focused ARPG never makes it big, so I think GGG should think about and try to fix trade (which I don't play, myself).
