Chaos orbs suck big time, they are not random.

They are overdoing it with their intention to make the player play longer...A game needs to have an end a state where you feel fullfilled. This crafting system is not what i want from a game. Gambling is fun but not with that kind of odds. I play classic cataclysm for a while and see how the EA develops but this crafting system needs some significant advancements until release. Happy to go back to poe1 if a nice league launches.
Like while I don't think there's any out of the ordinary variance with Chaos orbs, I do avoid using them, as I think taking that chance on a 'pretty good' item is a fools errand. I'd rather just re-attempt a regal than risk losing a necessary resist, big defense mod, or required damage, spirit or move speed mod in hopes of fixing a useless thorns or attack damage on my caster gloves. Unless I'm fine with just bricking it anyway (too many chaos, too many items, etc).

Of course if I've got some security (like an Omen) it's a different talk entirely.

Repeatedly roll a 6 sided die in real life and watch the results. Then take the tinfoil hat off. If you have 6 mods on an item and you chaos it, it's basically as rolling a D6. You can quite quickly tell, in real life, that edge cases occur where repeated results may seem to skew wildly in favor of one number or another. Roll the dice several million times and you will see that the higher the number of rolls, the more evenly spread the roll distribution will be. It's just maths. Saying that it has a high chance to remove a useful roll is indeed correct, since in the best case scenario you have a 1/6 chance to roll badly, and it just gets worse the lower number of mods you have and the higher number of good ones you have.

I have repeteadly rolled a D6 countless of times in my life. And you know what? Never ever have i rolled it several dozens of times and it rolled a 1 90% of the rolls.

The only times that happens are when it´s not a legit D6, but one with weights inside making it easier to fall on specific numbers.

I have about 1.500+ hours in PoE1, and rolled countless of Chaos orbs over the yeras, never did i experience anything close to what i experience in PoE2.

If it´s intended or not, something is seriously off with the Chaos orbs in PoE2.

You can go to Google, type "dice roller" and do it from their own app. I just rolled 30 dice, and only 1 out of those 30 dice did roll a 4. Does Google have a "4" bias built into the RNG? Why was 4 displayed only once when statistically it should have been at (1/6)*30, so 5 ? Why is my result 80% less than the statistical average? Simple. Not enough data points.

I know how statistics work. This is an early access game that just released, a lot of bugs and unintented functions are still gonna be in the code. A simple google dice roller working properly does not mean it´s impossible to be flaws in PoE2 craft coding.....

Also. Go learn statistics before you try to lecture others about it. What you just described are a big time strawman and a completely different scenario. Either your are trolling or just a big time dunning kruger champion.

Come back when you roll a 1 20+ times of those 30rolls. Which are what we talking about here. One stat rolling over and over and over again are much less likely then one stat rolling less frequent then some others.

All I know is I don't really like chaos orbs in their current state. They rarely ever help the items that I use them on. I hope GGG does something to make them better. Omens would help but they are far too rare.
I tested chaos orbs by buying 10 pairs of 35% move speed boots. I used a chaos orb and 10/10 of them removed 35% move speed. So the weighting is insane. Making it not worth using. As it almost guarantees removal of best tier mod.

It would work better if they had more than just a single affix doing +35% move speed.

Exactly. Things like this happens way too frequent for it to be equal chance.

And as you say, if it almost guarantee to remove the best hardest to get mod. It´s pointless to use it then.
Do you use Path of BUilding?

Do you Trade? -- What is the Best Trade Website -- that you believe?
