Chaos orbs suck big time, they are not random.

Almost every time you use a Chaos orb on an item, it take away the good hard to roll stat, if it´s intended or not i do not care about, as it is now it´s obvious they hard target the good stats and that are just bad implementation.

Rolling stats on items when slamming Exalted etc, yes of course the good stats are harder to roll and it´s higher chance of getting the bad stats. That´s how it need to be.

But for the Chaos orbs to hard target and heavily favour the good hard to get stats. That´s just bs. It makes them almost completely pointless to use. The Chaos orbs should be completely random which stat they remove.

And no, this can not be blamed on RNG, it happens way way to often to be shrugged of as RNG.

You use a Chaos orb on an item with +minion skills or other harder to roll stats and rest random stats, it´s almost guaranteed it will remove that hard to roll stat.

Yeah, Chaos Orbs are definitely rigged. Used about 200 so far and they just keep giving you bad mods until they strip away the ones you want to keep. Yesterday i used 20 on a scepter in the end it Chaosed away 56 spirit, +4 minion and gave nothing in return (light radius, add cold damage etc.)

so you had an item with 6 mods, 2 of them were really good. that means u had a 1 in 3 chance of hitting one of those good mods, a 1 in 6 chance of hitting either one but you managed to use 20 chaos orbs on this item before losing them?

isnt that better than average luck?
I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)
It seems extremely far from random to me as well; I've probably used over the 200 the other fellow mentioned, and it targets the good stats almost every time.

Whether it's intentional or not, it has an extremely high chance of targeting the better stats.
Repeatedly roll a 6 sided die in real life and watch the results. Then take the tinfoil hat off. If you have 6 mods on an item and you chaos it, it's basically as rolling a D6. You can quite quickly tell, in real life, that edge cases occur where repeated results may seem to skew wildly in favor of one number or another. Roll the dice several million times and you will see that the higher the number of rolls, the more evenly spread the roll distribution will be. It's just maths. Saying that it has a high chance to remove a useful roll is indeed correct, since in the best case scenario you have a 1/6 chance to roll badly, and it just gets worse the lower number of mods you have and the higher number of good ones you have.

Use omens. They should drop more now
while my sample size is not large enough I'd say orbs work as intended. I had both great successes and great disappointments with chaos orbs in particular.

Same applies to all other orbs. Omens would help here but as far as my luck goes I cannot find them often enough to care about that crafting mechanic so RNG it is - but that's a whole different story.

In short: I cannot find something strange about chaos orbs.

I have repeteadly rolled a D6 countless of times in my life. And you know what? Never ever have i rolled it several dozens of times and it rolled a 1 90% of the rolls.

The only times that happens are when it´s not a legit D6, but one with weights inside making it easier to fall on specific numbers.

I have about 1.500+ hours in PoE1, and rolled countless of Chaos orbs over the yeras, never did i experience anything close to what i experience in PoE2.

If it´s intended or not, something is seriously off with the Chaos orbs in PoE2.

Yes, for sure.

I have many hours in PoE1 and rolled countless of Chaos orbs over the years.

In PoE1 i experienced it to be completely random. Never did i experience over and over again with countless of items almost every time the good stats disapeared.

When rolling items with Exalts etc, good stats have a higher weight, meaning harder to roll.

Something must be off in PoE2 so that weight calculation also applies to Chaos orbs and have a higher chance targeting the hard to get stats.
That's called a negative cognitive bias .
