So bots will have even more power because buying and re-selling could be even more automated. I mean both systems have pros and cons.

And that would be a problem because? Please don't say price fixing. Even if that were the case, you have it now too so you'd be keeping one negative and getting plenty of positives. You as a player and a seller would immediately sell your item, get the correct amount thus not get scammed and save up your time. You as a buyer wouldn't have to waste your time with ignored trade whispers, you'd be safe from scamming because there'd be no "sorry" trade cancels to change the item for a worse one. It would also fix price check listings.

Now i'd really like you to name the pros of the current system. Honestly, the only people who can be for the current trade system are the people who are abusing said things.

I am scratching my head why they made this trading system through web? Answer to give something to players. Is it a good idea - no. I would never separate platform for trading - this is show that dev doesn’t have enough skills to make proper trading system in game. I wouldn’t put trading system on web in first place.

Another possibility that game doesn’t make enough revenue to have AH or other trading system in game.

What's the difference between those who wasted your 10 mins for you and you for Sakanabi ?

Is it because of outdated forum design or something ?

players in this thread defending the trade game seems to be the issue. Im 75% sure they are ones that have scammed or is scamming to get ahead.
This scamming is becoming more and more, and I know it's because of people that never played poe1 are trying this out for first time not knowing how trade is. Getting one of the worst trade experiences in any game.
I know in my streams people have said they quit due to the annoying outdated trade system that it is. GGG will fix make it better or are we just stuck in the PoE1 downfall 10-year-old outdated trade system?
The trade board consol has in PoE1 worked fairly well besides people not replying cause they quit playing. If they added instant buyout to that it would work great here as well. keep the web site for them die hard stuck in tha past poe1 scammer players but give player another more secure way.

There are way too many bad actors in this game to have a buy-it-now auction house, unless you gated it with gold and had strong anti-cheat detection. I'm in favor of a regular auction or BIN system gated by a large quantity of gold for asymmetric trading of big items. Sitting AFK waiting for niche expensive stuff to sell sucks. Maybe have the auction history be public too so the community can police itself in a way?

GGG could add a currency sum total in the trade window or pop a warning if someone closes the trade window and tries to re-trade but that's all they can really do to deter scammers.

I feel bad for you being scammed and I really don't want to victim blame here, this is not my train of thought.

To me this sounds like experience. Long time players know about this and double check items. GGG has built the trade system in a way that forces you to hover over the item before you can accept the trade, to make sure you see what you will be receiving. If anything is changed, you will have to hover over it again.

I think what I am trying to say, always double check.

GGG built an entire game around fast clicking and quick response times. It literally spends the entire game putting you in this mode where you need to be faster and more mechanical with the less thinking (which would slow you down).

So a game that basically gears the player's mind to staying in that mode because that means safety, survival and success in every other area of the game. Then suddenly to trade items and not get scammed, the expectation is put on the player to do a complete 180 and have the opposite approach to these small moments that make up less than 1% of the entire game time.

This type of scam works because the game is set up to make it viable.

How long does it take you to farm 18 Divine Orbs?
How long does it take you to check the trade if the other player put the correct item in?

I think in this situation it is ok to slow down a bit. Because the potential downside of not checking is that you lose a lot more time than just these 5 seconds.

To me these arguments sound like crossing a crossroads during a red light, because the driver refuses to check the light (the player refuses to check the item) and then getting mad, that the light did not prevent you from crossing.

Of course the fault lies with the scammer. They should be banned.

But it clearly is not the games fault! The game offers the player every option to avoid being scammed. If the player uses these options or not is up to the player.

Once again. At some point everybody has to be responsible for their own actions. We are not two year olds who don't know any better.
Lesson learned?
As I said earlier, I too fell victim to this scam. I lost 85 div trying to buy a 5 socket +5% stats/+10% ele res chest. I reported the scammer and GGG support flagged their account. I know it sucks man, trust me, I almost quit over it too. Take a break if you need to. Or let it motivate you to get another one. Hope you the best.

fun fact. no matter how you defend them. by creating a system that allows scams to happen and not taking any action towards scammers, you need to realize that GGG is complicit.

GGG is fine with players getting scammed.
