Please do NOT add an Auction House

Your "benefits" are almost exclusively abusing each other for a better personal gain. And to begin with, underpricing usually only happens because this awful system exists and people are faking prices to trick each other in to underpricing their items. You're competing with bots to "snipe" good deals and they're usually underpricing because of the abuse I mentioned.

Kind of telling on yourself that you think these are good elements of a functional trade system. "I love exploiting other players for a profit"

Bring in the auction house.

Please GGG, don't listen to the tourists demanding an in-game auction house. PoE's trade system is unique from all other games and is far more enjoyable than all those games with auction houses. These new players just have to adapt to and learn trading in a style they haven't experienced before.

I already saw Jonathan caving in to auction house demands in the recent Q&A stream, he might as well have confirmed it after being asked about it because he said something like "we'll look into it".

PoE trade has all kinds of benefits and traits to it that do not exist in auction house systems. For example if you underpriced an item, you can change your mind about selling it for too little after getting spammed by countless whispers - in an auction house you would lose the item immediately.
Another is being able to set up live alerts and snipe great deals.

And whatever happened to your own decade long belief that trade has to exist this way so that people see other players hideouts, otherwise there's no point in hideout customization?

Don't add auction house, it will completely ruin the trading!

heres the issue, any time you have to ruin immersion by alt tabbing out of a game to do something ingame, is a fundamental failure of the devs.

so, how do you fix trading so you never have to alt tab to trade items, without an auction house. there is never a reason to alt tab out of a game for an ingame action that isnt a direct failure of the dev team.

I would be fine with trade being an in-game system but it should work with the same fundamentals: you whisper the trader you want an item from, and its that players choice if they want to sell it or not.

It just has to work like PoE trade, it doesn't have to actually be on a browser website. An auction house type system with no player interaction would be far worse for the game than what we've had for over a decade and enjoyed the whole time.

no, i think a lot of ppl that are saying "i want an AH" actually really mean "i dont want to alt tab out of a game" and thats completely understandable, i think a lot of ppl wouldnt mind the trade system if they could at least not alt tab.
I respect your opinion, but I really struggle to understand how you see any part of this "unique" trading system as GOOD.

Every turd is unique, but it's still a turd.

Auction House is pretty wishful, but even automatic transactions would be a MASSIVE improvement, and you know it.

Who cares if you can price check an item by sacrificing other people's time, because aside from that every portion of trading is objectively bad from a player's point of view.

Trading is terrible, it's something that has been said repeatedly in poe1, it's still terrible in poe2. An AH won't fix it either. But you can absolutely not say it's in a good place. If I see something I want to buy and am sending whispers to 10 people in the hopes that one will respond, or if I'm selling something that I don't think is worth me leaving a map or whatever I'm doing at the time the 20 people whispering me for something shouldn't be punished for that.

An AH/Marketboard would allow me to put the lower priced item up there and set and forget, while people can browse it and buy it and don't have to whisper a ridiculous number of sellers to get an answer. But they want to sell MTX and Tencent have supposedly said no to the market because money. How true that is I obviously have no idea but trading absolutely NEEDS to be redesigned, because it requires third party things to function even remotely decently.
I don't mind using the website. I mind interacting with "people". If you post something for exact price there should be a "buy now" button on the website right next to whisper. Then it just takes your currency, their item, and swaps.

You posters coping that people defending the PoE trade system "are in charge of the market" are just tourists. Learn to play the game, adapt. It should not change to suit your wishes.
We have been using this trade system for 12 years and there is nothing wrong with it, its never been an issue. And I am having no problem finding the items I want right now either.

We absolutely do not need an auction house and adding one would ruin the games trading completely.

"If you don’t know the basic of commerce then you should not engage in any discussion about trading or auction house" says the guy who does not know the basics of commerce and is unwilling to learn.

The basic of commerce?

tell me how your illustrious skills in commerce and trade would help you if you went to a store and brought something to the till but just as you hand your 1$ the person at the till says... actually I want 100x times the listed price because you grabbed that dollar to fast.

you're basing "trade and commerce" like how real life would be and this system is not how trading works irl. you don't set the price after someone agrees to buy the listed price..

Why are you posting even if you can't read? "Basic of commerce" was me obviously making fun of the earlier replier unironically saying "You don't know the basics of commerce".

Also yes the PoE trade system does work how real life bartering works, you adjust your goods prices based on supply and demand. Its not supposed to work like a chain supermarket with set in stone prices, its bartering like at a medieval marketplace, where prices are constantly changes.
Anyone who thinks trade doesn't need any improving at all is delusional.

you're not posting a barter you're posting a price to sell a item..... wow I can't believe another person who's an obvious person upping the price and calling the system fine. (you gain profits to a bad system)

you go to a market to barter under the assumption you're going to barter dude. These are two very separate things

Thats the entire concept of trading, real life or in games. You just figured out? Yeah the sellers motive is to make as much profit for his own benefit, and the buyers motive is to save as much currency as possible and get the best possible product for it. Its a fierce competition and its why its FUN.

I and countless others have always enjoyed PoE trade system this entire time its existed. Also I literally never saw anyone whine about it until the past few years, it was universally praised in fact for majority of these years for being different from every other games trade system.
