0.1.0f Hotfix 2

"
"
So as someone who has been experience constant crashing, i can safely say this patch did not fully solve the issue.

i7-13700k
32GB DDR5
4080 super
23H2 windows (not the bugged 24H2)

In order for me to play the game without constant crashing, i have to leave the game in Vulkan instead of DX12. I then always have to remove a CPU core from the poe2 process by messing with the affinty option in task manager.

Once i do that, i typically don't crash anymore (there are some cases where it does once, but after that, its stable but you can feel the difference in Vulkan compared to DX12 - not as fluid but my machine can handle it).

Hope this helps someone as its all done without messing with the bios and the CPU max thresh.

Edit - The only caveat to this is each time the game is launched, you have to fix the affinty in task manager. no big deal but wanted to point that out. I will probably create a powershell script to handle this so its no longer manual.

you know it did work for a bit but i still experienced another hard freeze with looping sound even with 2 cores unchecked. I dont understand how a "windows update" can fuck up a game this bad. And only this game. Game is gonna destroy my newly built pc

Sorry to hear that. i am fortunate enough to not have full system freezes, but only CTD's every time it crashes. Anectodicaly, i have heard a lot of full system freezes occur more on AMD but its not exclusive to that chipmaker.

When i pull the event view logs, i see the following - points to the kernelbase.dll in windows:

Faulting application name: PathOfExileSteam.exe, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x677f2819

Poe 2 to me really feels more like Poe 1.5

This is it right here. All reused assets, cut down to the bare minimum. The maps and art look fantastic but everything else is just rehashing the same mistakes they did in PoE 1. They slapped a shiny 2 to the end of their name to sell early access for a free game.

Just like the guy after you said. I firmly believe this was to be the "updated" PoE 1 but that fucking Tencent wanted more money.

They still refuse to address exploiters/dupers/scammers but hey, why bother when people pay for trash.

bro its EARLY ACCESS, if this was the full release I'd understand being mad, but the game isn't anywhere close to being done............ so stop crying, the game will get better.

They have never taken a stance on exploiters/dupers/scammers. There is ZERO chance that will get better. Get your head out of the sand. It's all reused PoE assts. There is zero reason to play this garbage over PoE.

I wanna actually answer to the huge post you made there, there's a few issues in it.

The first is, I understand the frustration you have... but your expectations are definitely not close to realistic.

First of all: Similar affixes and uniques. Yes, obviously so! Expected... no... mandated even! I'm surprised with how different the uniques are actually in PoE 2 compared to 1! It's the same lore, the same items basically.

I agree with the bad state of end-game defensive measures, during campaign they're mostly fine, with ES being a too strong outlier because of the scaling, which needs to be handled. Armour becomes useless in end-game, evasion is decent though.
But also take into consideration that they slapped together end-game content in 8 months while the campaign was worked and polished for 5 years internally, and you can see the difference in quality quite clearly.

The obvious telegraphing is a mandatory aspect since the game pace is slower for the majority of classes, the outliers are which make it seems like a mess... but the direction there is good given their goal of making it a more slow-paced game which focuses on positioning rather then 'fast'n'blast' playstyle.

The crafting... yes, that's an issue. But! It's mostly the fault for ritual being a mess, ritual is the mandatory league mechanic for crafting but can't be scaled properly, hence you can't reliably upkeep it. Also the omens are a bit too rare still as they allow a large portion of the former meta-crafting for items. If GGG fixes ritual up the crafting will become vastly better. What they need to do anyways is increases the drop-rate of annuls by around 10000% (and I'm not joking, annuls are majorly worthwhile for some rare meta-crafts and annulling from magic items to re-try the early steps with a decent outcome still, too rare for proper function given there's no Alteration orbs available)

I also agree that the pickup is a major issue, for the campaign no problem and actually very very good... but for end-game atrocious. Implementing alteration orbs starting at T6 would be a good choice since by then it becomes a fairly important aspect to re-try on the same base. Also it reduces RSI issues for players by reducing click-amounts massively.

And I also agree that GGG should tell us their thoughts more clearly, that's important communication which has never been upheld. They are great in reveals and league hyping... but in overall game upkeep quality in terms of communication GGG never was good and people repeatedly told me 'But they're the best!' before I point them to Factorio to showcase what 'the best' actually means in those cases :p
GGG balance is like getting a pizza which is burnt on the sides, raw in the middle and misses the most of the toppings.
Then upon sending it back you get a raw side, burnt middle and enough toppings to drench everything in grease.
Everything fixed but still broken.

Sure do love these hotfixes

Exact same thing just happened to me, as soon as I got into the arena and the boss dialog started the game froze, audio was fine for a few seconds then the game shutdown.

Had like 2 crashes before these latest hotfixes with 260h played, and today I have crashed 3 times in about 3 hours. The first two were in a random map so no big loss, but losing the Trialmaster fight feels rough :|

Since this hotfix I crashed more in 4 hours running breaches then I did in the hundreds hours before. I lost multiple juiced breach map with multiple breaches in it losing all loot I picked up. GGG needs to step up if they want to release a decent game in a year. Take your loss and give us a new PoE1 league so you can work on PoE2 in the background.
im having HUGE problem with FPS

a week-1.5 weeks ago i was playing fine, high FPS and good MS, i had minor lag spikes/freezes but couldnt find the cause yet.
i logged on tonight, and im at 7-8 fps and simply cannot play
