Too much penalties, lost Map,lost XP, lost node buffs

"
There are many many problems with endgame at the moment. I've spent over 100 hours going through the Atlas without seeing a citadel. The maps that don't have content are boring and just feel like a chore having to pass through nodes to get to another boring tower to find a corrupted area with the maps that I want to run. The only endgame mechanic at the moment that is fun is Breach. Having to kill all rares on a map is crazy as the time I spend back tracking is boring and not engaging whatsoever. Bosses are one of the best parts of the game and they should be on every map.

Out of all this the worst thing by far about the endgame is 1 portal. Its a psychological destroyer. It has zero fun factor. Just makes you want to quit playing. My worry is GGG will stick to their guns with the 1 portal system so hard that they end up weakening everything almost to a point where it teicializes the game. I want it to be difficult. There needs to be a penalty to dying but this is way too much and it sucks the fun out.

I've played over 200 hours and have 2 characters over lvl 90 but I think that'll do it for me. I dont feel that even close to the majority of active players are in the end game so the retention doesn't quite reflect this but I feel it soon will.

Let's get back to the issue I see,
Topic of the post.
You died in end game, u got 3y punishment
exp lost, map lost, node lost.
For me it is like HC loose everything. but for HC
For casual players it's not OK

Exactly, this is just forced Hardcore mode onto Softcore players. No other way to sugarcoat it or say it. That is literally what it is, and its sucking all the fun out of the game for people, making their time investment feel pointless and futile and making them quit. It's the most horrendous game design I've ever witnessed in my life. It's so nonsensical and bad.

Don't get me wrong but the market is flooded with games for casuals.

And most of the "casuals" don't mind about death penalties....Casual I know play the story once on normal and play the next game in theyr playlist.

People who play a game past the story and grind the endgame are not casuals anymore....You guys are simply to lazy to farm the required gear for the highest difficulty and want to have the same progression as someone who invests 10x the time into the game. ;)

As said if you die take a step back and farm map tiers you don't die and all your problems are solved....And as soon as you find better gear increase the difficulty.

How much did u invest so far into your char and want to faceroll juiced T15 maps? 10 Div?....15? And be honest pls, bcs you only lie to yourself.

Come back when you show us your 500 Div gear...As a casual player like me and you, lets say in 2 months from now on?

And I will love every second in this 2 months to farm my 500+ Div gear, so I can faceroll T15+ juiced maps....hope you'll do the same. :)

Lmao someone missed the point
I thing we all got out of topic.

Meaning GGG in it's EA gave us no meaningful distinguish between HC and SC play.

If u are SSF soft player u don't have any chance to check your gear/spec.
if u die trying to get better gear as SC player, u loose everything(XP,Map,Node buffs) - which is the same penalties as if u die as HC toon.

Please, don't argue about games\skills , just for me this game design is not OK

Agreed, just hope GGG listens to all the feedback from all of the different threads about this issue and changes it during EA. Or at least make all the punishments optional things that players can enable if they want to flex/get more rewards. But it should never be mandatory in a softcore mode to play as if you're in hardcore.

There's an ability most of us humans are able to achieve...It's called: Learning.

And with learning there comes knowledge...and with knowledge experiance....and with experiance improvement.

And how exactly can't you check your gear?....You have a character screen that displays you your resistance, your dmage, etc...

And the most important...If you can kill/survive stuff, the gear check says: Good!

If you die/do 0 damage: Gear is Bad, back to the drawing board.

With my Monk I found out that some mobs are very risky and even deadly with my full melee build so I simply think outside the box and adapt my build, so I have 1 range skill for semi range to kill some dangerous rare mods/monster types.

Start to develop your char and finding solution for the problems you face, instead of complaining and screaming for nerfs if 1 mob kills you.

As said: Learn...Idealy from your mistakes. ;)

Did the thought cross your mind that, if you can't do the map in 1 portal, you're not ready to do that content yet?

I know it's difficult, actually thinking and using your brain to work out this design philosophy.

But if you can't do it in 1 portal, you're not ready to do it, and you need to get better at the game mechanically or adjust your build to cope with the lack of skill.

Nope, all this mechanic will do is make the game lose a massive amount of players and potential profits. The game is way too punishing for no reason at all.

Than stick with PoE 1, where you can spam portals until you get a free clear of the content, so you don't have to actually engage with the game, and leave PoE 2 to the people that actually want to play the game.

Love when people say stick with PoE 1 ....

You like the when u die to lose the map?

Good, but if they have like it on PoE1 for the portal's, you still can have that, use a waystone, you die, then use another waystone ... and you still have it like you want to play.

What people are asking is to make it less punishable to players, if they do, you still have like you want it, and so many others ...

For example all the people that I know that plays this game, the ones I talk to, they all hate this 1 portal policy.

As for me, I don't like it because my time to play the game is not that much any more, job, family, a little kid to take care of, so if some times I can have like 30min to play straight without any one calling me, I will be a happy man ...

So yes I would love to see this change

Tbh I was sceptical at first glance when they've introduced it but didn't thought that I'll love it so much.

It's not mindless blasting even in the highest difficulty like in D4 without having to think about your build....you have to spend time with your build and adapt to the danger you face.

Where every mistake could be deadly if not geared/skilled propperly and where you need to learn from them instead of boring faceroll all content without any feeling of "danger" like in other ARPGs.

We don't need another ARPG that you can play while sleeping bcs it doesen't matter if you're awake or not while playing. ^^
