Too much penalties, lost Map,lost XP, lost node buffs
i said this before the game was launched.
im fine with 1 portal per map, bricking the node, if thats what they want its super punishing but ok, do it. but dont have that AND an xp penalty. the xp penalty was fine when we didnt have anything better that would work in practice. now we do and its working. jonathan said the only rreason they kept xp penalty was to make the race to 100 legit, and maybe they could only have xp penalty over lvl90 or something. i think if theyre not comfortable doing the full penalty remove right now then thats what they need to do instead, have the penalty from 90+ to keep the 100 race legit and then let everyone else just lose their maps. we dont need it to be this punishing for people in the 70s and 80s playing softcore. just lighten up a bit. i said this was too miuch weeks before release and i think i was right. |

" The thing is... if they are comfortable moving the EXP penalty to 90+, wouldn't be a reach to eliminate it completely. The race to 100 will be legit, it would be a PITA even without the penalty since monster level stops at 82. So, from lvl 82 forward the EXP earned from killing monsters have diminishing returns. Just wait until you are level 94. Xp loss on death is definitely NOT ok. It needs to go. Games are meant to be fun. I'll repeat for the GGG devs... GAMES ARE MEANT TO BE FUN!
We don't need ANY punishment on death. The punishment is we lost. That's enough. XP Loss makes me feel like I'm wasting my time. If I'm wasting my time I'm not going to play your game. Get it? |

I hate losing XP, but it forces me to build defensively. The rest of the shit is god awful. It has not place in the game and serves no purpose, has zero fun factor, and is a psychological F U to the players. 1 portal sucks so bad. We have HC, Ruthless, HCSSF,Ziz's guantlet's, all these other things we can challenge ourselves with. Why it's being forced on softcore player's is crazy.
If the 1 portal doesn't get removed or at least curved to some degree that finds some middle ground with softcore player's the game doesn't stand the test of time like poe1 has. The retention will start to fade, people will put the game down and never return because it's just not fun. I'm 220 hours in and have been running juiced t15's+ for a while now. So I'm not speaking from a campaign perspective or just entering maps perspective. I've experienced all the end game and the massive amount of flaws the endgame has right now but the penalty for death is the #1 problem for me. I usually turn the game off for a little while or for the night when I die which is not often but when it happens It's just defeating. There's no redemption story. There's only losing, and feeling like a loser and nobody wants that in a video game. In Dark Souls you can fight a boss 1000 times if you're that bad. But each time you are learning something, gaining something, getting better, getting closer. In POE2, you're not gaining, learning, or getting better. You're just losing your passion to play. |

I think EXP loss should be 100%, you should go back to 0%.
