One-portal is a great system that just needs refinement

You can't have difficulty modes in a single MMO economy. That would mean either:
- Separating leagues by difficulty, which they won't do because a) they don't want to fragment their playerbase further and b) combinatorial explosion of number of sub-leagues per league. (There's already 8, now multiply that by number of difficulty levels.)
- Or you play easy mode but fully SSF, essentially no interaction with other players, which a) makes the game (balanced around trading) harder, defeating the point and b) they won't do it because an online economy is one of the pillars of PoE (they're not making a single player game).

I can almost guess your response.. Go play D4, right?

This might be the case, proverbially, of course. What's wrong about a game not being appropriate for everyone? I appreciate your love for PoE, but it might simply not be the best pick for you.

You seem to forget that GGG themselves has publicly, more than once, stated this game would be more accessible to more players aa well as have more crafting materials, both statements that are blatantly false as the game stands..

Having more difficulties with a single economy isn't that hard to achieve, easier modes don't get as many drops for example, or have other limitations. I am not a software developer, but it ain't hard... But this was just a suggestion as the playerbase seems quite split at the moment..

But this is not what i mean, the game isn't hard past a1 and 2, it's broken..
The on death effects+random one shot mechanics+1 portal=excessively punitive and the exact opposite of fun.. Add to that you can't learn boss mechanics with 1 portal, so more time needs be wasted farming waystones and shit, it's just not a fun and rewarding game play loop..

This is a beta version of the game, and i expect a lot of changes before 1.0 rolls out, but i stopped playing after trying a couple of waystones as i found it just not worth my time..

I just hope PoE2 doesn't result in Poe1 getting gutted, which it looks like at present, only time will tell..
No, one portal is horrible.
Yeah, it just needs to be refined to where if you die, you still have the 5 remaining portals.

Yep.
No, one portal is not fun especially when it's citadel/burning monolith. It incentives you to build even more damage to ignore all boss mechanics unless you want to get oneshot by mechanic that you didn't see in past dozen hours. One portal is literally discouraging you from doing game content. Like I'd rather just sell monolith fragments since it's guaranteed 4div for set instead of spending it on one try where you WILL die if you're going in blind.
One portal is the most not fun thing I've ever encountered playing PoE

It completely derails all my momentum and makes me not even want to load up another map. I finally got my first t16 map and landed it on a boss node and fucked up because I didn't notice the dot he had put under himself. I've vaal'd probably 15 t15s and have only gotten the one t16 - to lose it that quickly for one mistake? I'd like to think my monk is pretty tanky

4.6k ehp, capped res, 51% chaos res, 77% evasion 71% "armor" (invoker ascendancy)

Feels so terribly bad - please give us our 6 portals back

Wrong. There are multiple economies in poe1 each league: STD, HC and Ruthless. I don't know how you count 8 economies but whatever

But there's a point there, I agree it's better not to divide the playerbase if possible. I think a solution could be to turn the number of portals into another juicing mechanic. Say we start with six, but you can turn them off in a number of increments (may be one by one is too many options), and you get:
1) bonus quant/rarity/XP, obviously
2) access to drops, may be even mechanics (tokens to pinacle content for example), locked behind the lesser portals options.

With 6 portals, you could still do some mindless farming, not very rewarding, but just enough to generate some currency to trade or craft and still improve your build some, and when ready (or when you feel like it) you jump into, or transition too lesser portals. Higher risk, higher reward.

More accessible does mean less complicated, it doesn't mean it has to be easier or less punishing

But that is 8 every league.

Oh I didn't count standard (not league) or SSF. But I guess you can see it that way, fair enough (who plays standard though !? or stdHC).
