One life per map is just not fun

I just finished the campaign and went into my first map.
Died because I'm a monk and a regular monster spit in my face one shotting me and that's it, the map is done.

I have 3 maps in my inventory and buying a map is 5000 gold. So seeing that I have just one chance to beat a map, 3 tries, and then I need to start spending my gold which I won't recuperate dying in a map made me close the game for today.

I have about 1300~ hours in POE 1. I love souls games and enjoy POE 2, but for the love of god I can't imagine mapping like that. There should be a reason for the six portals more than "to back and sell" and refill flasks. I ain't going to go back to hideout 5 times per map just for loot- There isn't enough loot to excuse 6 portals and even if there were doing that sounds boring AF.

Please change that, I want to play your game but this is just not fun.

Yup its a fun killer for sure. I'm not even in maps yet and thinking about it is making me not pushing to maps.
At this point dying in a map once and losing it makes me just close the game.

Same. I am far from maps, but "death = map lost" makes it a subscription method and is a penalty for people who experiment with gear and skills.

Please just let players have fun in the maps they open.
If the player can't beat it: Fine
If the player needs an hour to beat it: Fine
I like it, but im a no life loser so :)

U ironically feel the weight, its like semihardcore

And that's great for people who want that, but I don't want the game to be semihardcore. I want to be able to play the maps in a way I find fun. Min-maxing my game so I don't get one-shot and loss a map because I didn't roll at precisely the correct time is not fun. It's dreadful.

Like, I guess that if the maps were smaller, and didn't cost that much/dropped more, thus making them less of an investment would make one life per map a bit better. But that still sounds no fun to me because I just don't want to play hardcore. I want the "casual" experience.

I agree, 1 life is some bullshit, it is just an arbitrary addition for false difficulty. It pushes people to meta specs to avoid dyeing because it punishes you for not running the most optimal spec. Another layer of BS Jon has spackled on POE2.

There is no casual expierence in this game, your going to randonly die over and over again till you are res capped and have high ehp.
I feel like the death penalties currently existing are not enough. If you get one shot in a map, you should be hard wired into an electrical system that kills you in real life instantly.
Who ever thought that getting killed once in a map then you are done, really missed the mark on what fun is.

I play a monk and the quarterstaff drop rate is sad.

Gear with enough resists to matter is also bad.

Upgrading gear with good mods is worthless.

Upgrading a level 50 plus item an getting a + 2 mana for a mod killing an enemy?

Thanks for listening.
