Someone else mentioned on another thread how this new end-game effectively combats bots. I'm sure it wouldn't shut them down completely but it's this level of...variation, on par to me with the idea of custom leagues, that really shows how savvy GGG are to the threat of automated characters created solely for the intent of profit/power, not actual 'gaming'.

Don't spend the regrets! GGG is likely to reset all of your skills for you when the patch goes live.

Aye, how will these limited portal maps work in cut throat?
I can see some folks just porting in and out of someones map to use up the 6 portals on them just to grief them.

Also in the cut throat league will there be 12 portals since you can have up to 12 players in the same instance?

Do you honestly think cut-throat leagues will survive until level 60+?
You should take one problem at a time, if GGG actually manage to balance cut-throat to the degree where it can be a permanent league, then taking that extra step to solve the map problem will pale in comparison.
Possible solution
  • A player/his party open a map.
  • 6 Portals open that can be used a total of 2 times, but only 3 of these portals are accessible to the party that opened them (allowing the normal 6 entries)
  • The remaining 3 portals are available to any player/party that sacrifices a map of the same rarity to enter
  • In this format, even though 12 inventories of items could be potentially taken out, it would be at the cost of 2 maps instead of 1


it looks like it's a good game is meant for me to get started

Man the "Maps" sound awesome as does the act 2 final boss, just hope my problem "http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/35959" can be figured out in time to play em.
