How fast do you think the steamcharts number will drop?

I find the polarizing response to this game rather interesting.

I've been around since PoE1's closed beta. Want to know what I think? It's amazing. I'm not sure I can go back to playing the first game now.

See what I mean?

POE when it first started was significantly harder than POE1 now (not as overtuned as POE2 EA, but that's literally why they have an EA period) and the devs were already pleased with their success and it was over 250k I believe.

A larger number of players fled Diablo 3 when it came out for it being too easy, and diluted the dev's vision.

If you only play and judge games based on player count, would you prefer POE2 to turn into Candy Crush? That game has 200 million players after all and you can do one hit swipes, clear the screen and get loot that way too.

Be nuanced please - if there's something specific then that's worth discussing.

Fled diablo3 for being too easy? Tell me you didnt play d3 on release without telling me. It was literally IMPOSSIBLE for the vast majority of the players to pass act 4, IMPOSSIBLE everything 1 shot you to the point all that most people were doing is farming god damn vases and breakables for weapons to sell on the RMAH.

You know how many people beat diablo pre nerf in d3 ? 1 person. Kripparian.

also the reason most arpg vets quit d3 is the itemization sucked royally and paragon system was dog water. go ask people like Alkaizer world first paragon 100 who quit d3 for POE1.

I'm honestly not sure. I'm probably not representative of the average but I bet that it's below 5k inside of 2 months.

I think a huge amount of people will drop out when they reach the respective endbosses of Act 1 and Act 2.

That gave me some PTSD, lol. Very true. People who claim D3 was too easy never played at launch or formed some sort of mental block for those days as a result of their trauma.

I expect GGG will respond pretty quickly. The game is in a fairly un-fun state right now, and they won't want to blow all the goodwill they had prior to launch.
That isn't even the good question to ask, the question is how many are we going to have NEXT LEAGUE. Enough people are going to make it through to the elder game to give them feedback on the elder game. But if enough people that zonked out instead of inviting a friend to play (there is a reason they put in couch co-op) come back and try another bite at the apple then that is what success is.

Other than that, if even 30% of players finish the campaign before thursday after next I'd qualify that as a success. I have no idea what GGG's win condition is but they're going to have access to a lot better data than I do.

Also, just gonna repeat what I said, the game is much better with a 2nd or 3rd player in your party which means it might actually grow over time.

I doubt tomorrow breaks 400k we'll see, hope poe1 gets a really really good league.
Well all the streamers will be back playing D4 S7 in a bit over a month. Im guessing steam charts will prob be down like 90% by then. Also to do with the fact that Im not sure there is even 1.5 months worth of content in the game currently.
As long as the usual twitch streamers keep the hype up and criticism to zero, player numbers will stay high.
Very fast cause the game feels terrible at the momment in terms of progression
