Witch Minions, totally unplayable
i didnt find the "way" yet. feels too clunky for now. i need relying on contagion + poison from skel archer.
not really sucks but it feels so damn slow for both clear maps and bossing. im at lvl 49 act 1 cruel btw. i need to be tankier myself, my minion also does while both of us still need more dps. at the end of the day, ill still push through, just sharing my thought. this is not newbie friendly at all HAHA |

i'm lvl 18 only , just unlocked the trial ok sekhekam in act2 and will try that for the first time later today, but i have to say minion witch does not feel bad for me. i killed act1 boss on third try, king in the mist on first, balbala on second and am in general able to breeze through the maps. i dont run the raging spirits by now, got the gem instead which creates ES charges from corpes. i do help my minions though with contagion+ the draining one and ofc unearth. i mostly took minion damage +ES passives. just my 2 cents, but i feel minion witch is viable with a bit of tinkering and getting used to it so far, never felt underpowered or frustrated so far.

I was one of those people saying minions were too weak in the beginning. I disagree with that statement now. Once you unlock SRS+Firewall, everything becomes a lot easier. I've been using skeleton snipers, but using Arcanists with extra projectiles and faster attacks seems better.
They definitely still need work. They should be able to pass through or bump one another through doorways, or we need a Convocation spell. I think them being able to be death staggered is really annoying as well. Last edited by Kozmas#0835 on Dec 10, 2024, 3:50:33 AM

So I've been playing through act 1 with a minion build several times now. If you expect to play it the same way as you did in PoE 1, you're going to have a bad time.
The minions don't really feel like soldiers in an ever growing army any more, more like resources for you to use. Once I swapped to a more active play style, I found my experience vastly improving. Contagion + unearth, gas arrow + any fire source, skeletal arsonist exploding your minions once they're low (especially the ones raised by unearth...) It's all tremendously good stuff. And yes, they are pretty fragile compared to PoE 1 minions, but with some investment in their life nodes they tend to be able to take a hit or two. And you can give your skelly archers the support gem that makes them linger around even if they do get killed. The one big downside there is currently, I feel, is that you're pretty much forced to go Raging Spirits. While general exploration without it is fine, there's just not enough corpses in boss fights to raise with unearth. Your little goon squad of reviving minions is entirely insufficient in those early on in the game. I'm not sure how that'd be best handled. Maybe a skill that can spawn corpses on the ground a la Desecrate from PoE1, or a change to unearth so that it can spawn minions off of just hitting a unique though that'd leave zombies and the like in the dust still. " For the zombie problem, there's a few skills I noticed that could potentially generate charges for them via fully breaking armor. But I'm not sure if you can break a boss's armor reliably, and I don't know what skill/minion combo would best be used with those gems. |

I found this thread, because my experience was the exact same. I am now lvl 57 despite all the hardship early on.
One big tip I took away here was the SRS buff of Sorceress, that really improves your life versus bosses. I follow the "build of Kripp btw, https://mobalytics.gg/poe-2/builds/life-stacker-infernalist-kripp which works really well. It turns the Arsonist into real damage dealers. I run with one Storm Mage for the Shock and the Hellhound provides Fire Exposure. Currently playing with Firestorm cast on Ignite, that helps to automate and clear things. Observations: - pet KI is overall really bad, pathing is bad especially in all those tight map spaces we got in PoE2 - pets keep loosing you often and in consequence despawn which is basically 90% of your damage gone - pet early game is aweful - coprse management / targeting is annoying, I dropped Zombies completely - no corpses on Bosses 99% of the time Overall, the class is fine if you play with SRS and Elemental Skills, the interaction with Firewall, Hellhound, Arsonist etc. is well thought through. Lastly, too little Skill Gems drop to experiment for now. Would live to build something around pure physical, storm, frost etc. Best Hilding. |

Minions are quite good. We just have to re-write our brains.
My main issue is that many maps have many narrow paths which makes melee-minions get stuck in queue. I'm 57 also!, tried most combos and my most successful ones are: - Skeleton (sceptre) + Snipers (early early game). - Arsonists + SRS. Flammability curse. - Reavers + 1 sniper. Vuln curse. Snipers/Arsonists takes care of narrow paths also. Just some general tips... Before 3rd ascendancy (55-65 level) and sprit chest+amu+sceptre you're stuck with SRS because you need that spirit to bolster your minion counts. You can drop minion skeleton sceptre and go for sceptre with energy shield when you get SRS since your minions aren't tanks (YET). After 50'ish you have enough nodes to boost reaver def with phys mitigation & life regen so they rarely die. Experimenting with brutes & storm mages now. Update: Lvl 27 with SRS and Gas-Arrow the way is much easier. So i learned to test more Skills and dont look in the first tab :)

I don't have this issue. In fact, mobs melt just to minions alone, without me having to do anything.
I am using Arsonists. I use the Skeletal Warriors from the sceptre as my meat shields (with Meat Shield support). If it's safe, I'm spamming Flame Wall with SRS. I have Flammability + Pain Offering to help my minions vs bosses. Vs most bosses, you can just walk in circles while your minions melt it down very quickly.
