Continuous Stuttering/Lag Despite Stable FPS and Internet in PoE 2 Early Access

I had a similar issue, where the game had been running just fine for the last few days then suddenly started to have performance issues. the issues persisted no matter how low i turned down the graphical settings.

What solved it for me was clearing my GPU's Shader Cache, and then changing the default shader cache size to something very large such as 10 GB. You can google instructions on how to do this for an Nvidia card. also, the Vulkan rendering API seems to be the most performant and stable and i would recommend enabling that in the game settings over DirectX 12.

And if that doesn't work, another issue I ran into, that may or may not be relevant to you, was a high mouse DPI setting paired with a 4K polling rate was sending so many instructions to the game/CPU that it was causing big lag spike every time i would make large mouse movements across the screen. so if you use a high mouse DPI and/or a high polling rate you might consider turning those down to see if your issue resolves.

No response yet or any sort of acknowledgement from GGG?

Cool.

It's probably nothing, but I do have better luck connecting to Texas server even though I am California. Higher ping ~40-50 but generally more stable for me (still has the spiking but its less frequent)

same here using the cali server. starts ok then begins to stutter. DC server was a little better but the lag for me was more prevalent due to my location. This always online for single player content is a terrible practice. If this was not the best game ever made (IMO) I would not be putting up with this but they got me, they got me lol
I also have a top of a line PC and I've been experiencing graphic stuttering, lag spikes, etc., that have made me motion sick and virtually unplayable.

After reviewing all the the comments, and doing my own research - trying different graphic settings did not resolve the issue. Installing/reinstalling drivers, game ready/studio did nothing to fix the problem.

The one crazy fix I have found so far is to change the global and trade chat servers each time I experience this stuttering, and it goes away instantly.

For example:

a) /global 1234
b) /trade 1234

This does not resolve network or server spikes, those will happen still, but it has greatly improved my overall experience of the game and ability to enjoy it again.

The one interesting thing I noticed is that my FPS was locked at the max before (~144 fps). Now I noticed it actually shows the proper FPS and fluctuations around ~80 fps most of the time.

Hope this helps someone...
I just posted my own report of this also with clips of the issue.

https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3685571

I have isolated the issue to some instances. It exists on random instances. I do not know if these instances are created on specific servers, but I can replicate it by creating a new instance. When it occurs, I can swap back to another instance and it disappears.

This makes maps impossible as I don't know which way stone will have it occur.

I have a decent PC.

5950X
6600 Xt
64GB DDR4 RAM
PCIE 4 M.2

I don't have every spec but I do know that it occuring on instances is not a hardware related issue.
Meh it went away for a good week now it has returned for me… sadly
