This doesn’t feel like PoE anymore. I understand that many people might enjoy this new direction, but the issue is that most players who loved PoE1 (myself included) want a similar playstyle. During PoE1’s beta, it had a similar slower style, but it was a huge flop. They eventually shifted it into a fast-paced, fun, grind-heavy game where you could relax and mow down hordes of monsters. PoE2 might find its own player base, but it won’t appeal to the original PoE1 fans unless they make drastic changes.

This game here is a huge step up for GGG. Hands down the best ARPG I've ever played

Less than one day into a beta?! The best ARPG you've ever played?! A little late to the genre? Damn man, you've missed out on a lot of really good ARPGs if 15 hours of pretty mid beta is the best you've had.
I played POE1 since open beta, from time to time. Didnt stay for long because currency farm was boring for me, days of farming for minutes of crafting.
In POE2 (i got to lv16, at the end of act1) gear does not matter that much, skills and reflexes are more important, and it makes the game fun for me, so far. Playing as a Witch.

No. it is because in this 15 hours this game has shown more than ALL other ARPG combined. Your playing matter.. you see what is going on... you can overcome challenges.. it is not a DPS vs health bar simulator.
I can summarize this thread with... "SKILL ISSUE"

It says a lot about competition doesnt it? I tried every, single popular one and PoE2 plays the best out of all of them. It blows out of the water Grim dawn, D2R, D3, D4, Lost Ark, Wolcen and many more. Gameplay wise? PoE2 is on another level. Its better than poe1.

Ahhh... skill issue.
I got the sauce.
totally agree

dev skill issue
good one, ty mi lord
Why are you laughing?

Video games that require Too Much Skill is actually bad for sale. Yes, difficult games can be more difficult to keep people playing. And require MORE skill to keep people interested.

Making a difficult game and failing to keep people playing reflect developer skill issues.
There are a LOT of people supercoping the same way people coped when Diablo 4 initially released, mostly who aren't even past act 1 yet, and are subconsciously arguing because they are afraid that if they admit the game is kinda trash.. then the 'content' they were hoping to grind at for the next 2-6 months is gone.

I mean, if you take down the coping mechanism for just one second and look at the skill list, you'll realize it's almost all recycled skills from PoE-1. So after that fake novelty wears off, the only thing it's going to come down to is 'how good is the gameplay? it's an ARPG after all' and the slightly better graphics (I think the game is overly textured and bloated, and tons of people are reporting GPUs getting damaged and massive crashes... there's like a 20 page thread about it already).

Rolling around forced dodging is not fun. I'd rather just be fast and dodge by mouse moving or have a shield move like immortal call or flame shield from Diablo. If I wanted to play a game where I was rolling around, I'd be playing a Star Wars Jedi game, Devil May Cry, Dark Souls, or Resident Evil for a superior power fantasy. I thought I bought an ARPG. By the time I realized this is just a roll-fest I already put in 2 hours.

The devs failed to understand that 99% of long term players are playing for a power fantasy. You want to feel powerful, and like you are progressing. You don't feel powerful dodging around like a sissy and only getting to attack on their terms. I'd rather play the game as the enemy boss. Just sit in a throne room alt tabbed until the hero comes in and just smirk because even if I lose the fight I win since he had to put so much effort into dodging all my moves while I kick back. That's how silly bad it is.

I never thought I'd miss the goofy completely out of the blue 1 shots from PoE in map bosses, but here I am. You still have to be careful with certain rares and events in PoE1 but the power fantasy is there.

In the current state, the devs should really hotfix the game to basically make leveling twice as fast. I will be extremely shocked if I hear that even 10% of players who purchased the game play all the way through cruel within the next 2 months. I've played like 6 hours today and never even once had a power fantasy feeling, even when fighting regular mobs.

The character itself moves too slowly and the trash mob types all seem to have roughly double your movespeed. So anytime you engage with monsters it's an instant scene out of Jumanji with them stampeding towards you. It's comedically bad game design. I'm sure it gets even worse late game when the mobs have actual haste mods and auras.

I didn't even have any expectations for this game. I was prepared to play a crap game. They took all the worst parts of POE-1 and then mixed them in with the worst parts of Dark-souls types games. Roll Roll Roll, 10 minute boss fight where if you mess up 1-2x in a row you likely lose!

I don't think it's an issue anymore. It's like something a therapist needs to solve. Skill trauma or something

I beat act 1, it was tough but I enjoyed the slowness of it all. A bit more like Grim dawn
Just go play PoE1

Hold left click, set your mouse to the side of the screen what direction you want to go and press a button every once in awhile to clear the screen in your slotomania gambling game.

Thats what it is... poe1 is not an arpg anymore.

PoE2 is a return to its roots. Whiners either dont remember or they arent old enough to have experienced the roots of PoE. If you are. You know that PoE2 is a return to its former self pre loot pinata gambling simulator.

PoE 1 went from a dungeon crawler arpg to a ADHD pointless item sorting game where 95% of the content was meaningless.

I am glad that GGG went back to its roots and are focusibg on what made path of exile great.

Im sorry, not sorry...but you are just wrong.

There are a few issues but this IS the prerelease....beta.....a trial..to flesh out kinks.

The dodge roll mechanic should be nerfed a bit, it makes things too easy as a ranged class. There should be some sort of stamina bar or cooldown w/set uses or something.

This game is going to grow and become incredible.
