" I had a good experience with it, until I started getting hard crashes (music stutter like an evil DJ) during actual play time, not loading screen |

After a month, still no communication about this issue ?
The "known issues" post says they have been investigating this issue for a month now. Maybe you can change the guy in charge of this investigation ? ^^ |

Hey, GGG any update? We are still here!
|
|
After the freezing issue, my computer got into trouble. 2 RAM cards are broken. I replaced them with new cards. I won't log into this game before the issue is fixed.

" What is your motherboard, psu and damaged RAM manufacturers? |
|
" They evidently took most of December off and just got back yesterday. I wouldn't expect anything soon. |
|
" I reformatted to be able to roll back, and it did not fix the issue. The first time I loaded the game I was able to get to the login screen for 3 minutes (servers were down) and then it had crashes pc. Attempts afterwards were the same problem, launch game-black screen-hard crash pc. Forget about not being able load between zones, I can't even login or get to the screen for it! Have tried many many of the usual suggested fixes with zero success. |

During this OOO period from the GGG team, I was very hyped to play, even though I'm having the worst time crashing my new PC with the Multithreading issue.
So in hopes of mitigating hardware damage due to crashing and resetting the PC, I found some workarounds that mitigate severely, at least for me, the crashing issue. Diagnosis: after much testing on the nature of such crashes, I could narrow down to the operation of "Loading a map", especifically around new Atlas Maps that I did not load out before when I last logged in. My CPU temps reach ludicrous numbers when such operation starts and I can feel it tingles the system. My rig: R7 7800x3d + 4080 SUPER + 32 GB 6000MHz RAM - OS Windows 11 24H2 So what do I do: 1) On "X:\Users\xxxxx\Documents\My Games\Path of Exile 2\poe2_production_Config.ini" I edit the engine_multithreading_mode line on the [GENERAL] section to "disabled". This is the same as going on Ingame Options and turning Engine Multithreading OFF. With that option OFF I have 0 issues but also game is not crispy as I desire. Why do I do that? Because if it's on, my PC crashes before logging in. 2) Once the game is on, Task Manager -> Details -> look for Path of Exile exe, right-click, set affinity and untick CPUs 0 and 1. That is a fail-safe for when I play the game with Multithreading ON and forget to turn it OFF before loading Hideout/Maps, the crash will be handled by the system, and only PoE2 will be shut down. 3) Before every loading into Hideout or Map, turn Engine Multithreading OFF. Turn it ON when it's go-time. 4) If the crash occurs, and you still wanna play the game, repeat from step 1. Hope it helps for those struggling. I know that there are a number of variables that cause such crashes. For me it was all around loading with Multithreading ON. Other workarounds I tested and FOR ME it did not work but I hope it does for you: - Compatibility set to Windows 7 or 8 - Use Vulcan as renderer - Mods that does practically what I instructed above |
