POE 2 Complete PC Freeze while loading screen

Hi! Due to the fact that the topic is gaining momentum and many people can not play normally, I suggest to help understand the developers direction to solve the problem
By collecting statistics.
We have created a form where you can specify your PC configuration and attach a dxdiag file as requested by Timothy_GGG https://www.pathofexile.com/account/view-posts/Timothy_GGG-0000.

Link to the form: https://forms.yandex.com/cloud/676004d9e010db19370ab6c2/.

I ask everyone to fill in the form, including people who don't have problems with PC freezing, so you will get structured statistics with problematic and working configurations. This should help to identify patterns of error occurrence, which in turn will speed up troubleshooting of the game.

(at least the information about configurations will not be scattered in the comments of the thread (170 pages omg)).

A dashboard with these statistics will be provided later.

UPD. Added a link to the dashboard to the form.

Please spread this post, the more stats we gather, the sooner the developers will fix the problem.

Am I the loud person? I have the issue on 24h2, 23h2, and multiple different Nvidia drivers, full wipe/clean install. Crash in loading screen to desktop as well as BSOD full lock up.

I fail to see how I'm the loud person though because I've only posted a handful of times... but hey whatever fits your narrative.

no, not you. And tbh what you experience is different from what I experience - game didn't crash to desktop nor I had BSOD; it was just complete freeze with mouse and any keyboard inputs not responsive
Latest patch notes, nothing about cpu crashing, and now they are going on christmas vacation, great.........
I'm crashing constantly while playing POE2 on this Windows version, copy and pasted directly from my system properties:

Edition Windows 11 Pro
Version 23H2
Installed on ‎10/‎5/‎2022
OS build 22631.4602
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22700.1055.0

I don't have the 24H2 update. Never did. It hasn't shown up in my Windows Updater yet. I understand they just started rolling it out waves in October.

So, you can cross Windows Build 24H2 off the list of causes. The POE2-only system crashes are happening on my 23H2 PC as well.

I was having this stuck in loading screen, requiring power off/on as well.

I am using windows. Here is what i did, go to "event viewer".

1) look at the date and time you do the power off/on, it should give off level=>Critical. Description would be: the system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first ... bla bla ...

2) then look at the date and time of the other errors below, few seconds before your shutdown. mine was 2 lines below.
Giving error level=>Warning. Description: The hypervisor did not enable mitigation ... bla bla ... , disable HyperThreading.

3) google how to disable HyperThreading for my Bios.

4) Restart windows, enter Bios, Disable Hyperthreading. Save and restart.

5) Been playing for 2 days (total 4 hours) not requiring power off/on. Once a while during portal, you will have 5-10 seconds freeze, but fret not, it will then resume loading. Might be due to HyperThreading disabled solution working, hope it works for those having same error as me.

Update on what i did for temp fix. Summary below:
1) HyperThreading disabled.
2) Always restart pc before playing POE2.
3) Played for 10-20 hours, 0 freeze/issue.
4) If 1 or 2 is not performed, will encounter freeze requiring power off/on.
Can confirm this issue is being ignored.

This is called a selection bias.

Most people also have 24H2 like how most people have the latest GPU drivers. Even if its 24H2 specifically, it is GGG's duty to make their game work in it like how all the other games are working within it

You know whats more common theme than 24H2? POE2

so far I'm seeing
1) 1 loud person claiming that reverting to 23H2 didn't help
2) 10+ people including me claiming that issues started happening after upgrading to 24H2.

There might be other biases and issues with relying on these reports but I will tend to believe that something changed internally in Win11 after that upgrade and causing the issue. Of course it could be also some regression in PoE1 and PoE2 code, timings align as well (could be some fixes happening right before PoE2 launch). Not saying that it's win11 fault though, it definitely feels like something that can and should be fixed on GGG side.

that seems like a different issue imo. This thread is about hard freezing the pc, we don't see bsod, or at least I haven't seen a bsod. If I disable cores, or disable multi threading in the options it stops hard crashing the pc and will crash to desktop instead (only crashes sometimes during loading screens and only during loading screens).

thanks for your input. To clarify, are you crashing to desktop (any error message?), having BSoD or experience hard freeze (only rebooting PC helps)?
