POE 2 Complete PC Freeze while loading screen

GGG is chilling in the pool and laughing about us

What are you guys talking about? It's literally the 2nd issue in the pinned "Known Issues" thread that lists 5 issues they consider high priority and that they're trying to fix ASAP.

Oh yeah, that high priority where literal PC hangs sitting next to "unclear ascendancy trial requirement" and "map device sometimes not work". SO high priority
I don't know how helpful this will be, but I seem to have solved my freezing during loading screen issue by removing my second monitor. Haven't had any freezes over the last two days after fighting them multiple times a day before. Hope that helps some of you out there.
Sometimes I don’t freeze and I play for hours

Then I think the problem is fixed or that I fixed it by doing something or disabling something

Then all of a sudden it fucks me

Be careful with thinking because u didn’t crash for 3 hours that it’s fixed

I found a fix that worked for me.

Download Process Lasso: https://bitsum.com/
Start the game
Right click on PathOfExileSteam.exe
CPU Affinity -> Always -> Disable SMT (This may not be necessary, but it doesn't affect performance too bad)
Right click on it again
CPU Limiter
Options:
When CPU use is: 100%
For a period of 0 seconds
Reduce by this many CPU cores: 2
For a period of: 1 seconds
Add Rule

Effectively whenever the CPU hits 100% it will disable 2 cores. The allows the game to still run at full speed when its not hammering your CPU. It does stutter heavily when entering new areas, but it's totally fine after that. Way better than doing it through Task Manager.

I can't even play on my main rig due to performance issues (5800X3D, 6800XT), so I had to do this on my second one (5600X, 3060Ti). It runs fine on the weaker machine... for some reason, but it would crash every 30 min to an hour. I initially fixed it by rolling back the nVidia drivers to 590.94, but after the recent patch it started crashing again. I updated to latest and I just suffered through it until act 3 where it was crashing every 15 min. Then every 5 min. Then it crashed on launch. I started experimenting with the CPU fixes and found disabling SMT in the bios and limiting the game by 20% with BES fixed it, but it would stutter horribly and it still eventually crashed although less frequently.

I haven't had a crash in over an hour with this new fix, so I'll update if it does.

Edit: ...and it still crashed.

Yes still crashes but at least I can play for several hours with this.

because we believe this is a separate and their most severe issue theyve had so far and needs full attention and assurance from management et al.

Do you remember when they were updating everyone on launch about what's happening? we want some of that. The launch delay was sooo expected and understandable. This is proper sus

This is the problem with all these "FIXED" posts. Its totally random.

Yesterday i played 6 hours before a hard crash and today it happened 30 mins in. Just because you can play for an hour or two after doing any of the recommended band aid fixes means nothing.

I'm playing with a friend who has very similar system to me but still on Windows 10 and he hasn't crashed once since release so its must be a conflict between the os, drivers and game.

Im sure GGG will have something to say after the weekend.

I had a situation where I played without freeze all day. (10h)
And next day I caught this bug twice when trying to just enter the game and load character.

I probably suggested about eight different "fixes" in various threads and tried even more from others, which wasn't very productive in hindsight. Only three or so help me play consistently, without crashes, and it seems like everyone has different results. You'd think the game would create logs for the process leading up to the crash, being early access and all. Larian implemented detailed logs for BG3 EA. Gold standard and all that right?
PoE2: A good, giving game
Im throwing in the towel here on my desktop 9800X3D 4080 super. I disabled SMT in the bios and got 5 hours no crash. Crashed at a loading screen and had to reboot. No video output upon rebooting. Had to unplug all the peripherals and hardware from the surge protector to get video back. I’m done til there’s a fix. I have a laptop and a ps5 but it’s a shame my godly pc just can’t even enjoy the game
