1. Unplayable: $250 wasted.
2. Poor performance: D4 never had these problems.
3. Outdated graphics: 1996-level textures and visuals.
4. Terrible UI: Worst I've ever seen.
5. Clunky inventory management: Unintuitive and frustrating.
6. What we have?: Builds nerfs, microtransaction promos, streamers being paid do advertise the game. Support for critical bugs? NO.

Feels like a lazy copy-paste for $250. Unacceptable.

Well thats a hot take. I feel like you are upset, and thats ok. The game however is not as bad as you make it sound man. If you spent 250 on it then you knew how it was going to look before hand.... thats on you man. The bug is a big deal and they have said more than a few times that they are working on it. and the ui is by no means clunky, it is very similar to the first poe.... made by the same people soooooo yeah lol. if your game is locking up your pc try this it worked for me

I was able to fix this by turning off 3 settings without turning off multithreading!!!

Turn off Dynamic Culling
Turn off Dynamic Resolution
Turn Off Triple-Buffering

I will update if the cpu lock up happens again with these off but I tested it by rapidly going in and out of act 1 town and the mud burrow. I did this about 25-30 times trying to force it to lock up again. I believe before turning these off my cpu was locking up every 5th-8th time in a loading screen.

ive done everything to make it work

yesterday i was playing without problems

today i tried to login 3 times, 3 times i had a hardcrash my pc totaly freeze. Had to push the button to reset.
I sent a message to gamers nexus and jayz2cents. Maybe somebody in the media will pick this up and investigate.

try this

Hi GGG and community,

In relation to this:

New: Investigating cases where some players experience crashes related to Multithreading and have to restart their PCs. This seems to mostly be for players with the Windows 24H2 update.

-----------

I have been plagued with this issue when portalling between zones, it seems as though the CPU is spiking which causes a system crash. It is worth noting that durning my troubleshooting, ive obeserved this issue happens too a number of games, not just POE2.

Some workarounds have been the likes of disabling multithreading or setting affinity for poe2 process in task manager, turning CPU 0 and CPU 1 off, this allows you too enter the task manager in the event of a crash.

These were previous steps id personally taken in working around, however, Windows seems to have addressed this issue in a recent, optional Windows update.

The update is KB5048162 and is found in the optional updates section on the Settings/Windows update. KB5048162 patchnotes seemingly address this issue and will likely be deployed in the next feature update. The patch notes are as follows:

----

Summary
Security Improvements

There are no new security improvements in this release. This update is cumulative and contains all previously released security improvements.

Quality and Reliability Improvements

.NET Runtime

- Addresses an issue where in rare cases where an infinite loop could occur when a thread enters CLR for the first time.

----

I have since updated to the new optional update and tested portalling ingame extensively, i have not crashed since.

I hope this helps anyone affected, this seems to be a permenant fix.

Kind Regards

Jammies

This is an insane overreaction but you're free to feel however you want.

Agreed.
The crash and pc freeze issue is top priority to fix but still no update about it. I wasted few days on reinstall/repairing the game, reinstalling drivers, rerolling windows updates, changing heatsink, changing bios settings etc.

The UI is very terrible, totally unfriendly to new players. I cant believe the group play is so poorly designed. No indication or hightlight on team mates, drops shared... etc.
There are alot of other problems too. D4 has it's own problems but much better on these points.

Just upgraded my PC to 9800X3D and new mainboard/ram/m2 ssd and a fresh new windows 11 24h2 before the game launch, cant believe it made me keep working around to solve the freeze/crash of the game.

while you are speaking truth, unless you have something useful to add you should just stay silent....
I found a fix that worked for me.

Download Process Lasso: https://bitsum.com/
Start the game
Right click on PathOfExileSteam.exe
CPU Affinity -> Always -> Disable SMT (This may not be necessary, but it doesn't affect performance too bad)
Right click on it again
CPU Limiter
Options:
When CPU use is: 100%
For a period of 0 seconds
Reduce by this many CPU cores: 2
For a period of: 1 seconds
Add Rule

Effectively whenever the CPU hits 100% it will disable 2 cores. The allows the game to still run at full speed when its not hammering your CPU. It does stutter heavily when entering new areas, but it's totally fine after that. Way better than doing it through Task Manager.

I can't even play on my main rig due to performance issues (5800X3D, 6800XT), so I had to do this on my second one (5600X, 3060Ti). It runs fine on the weaker machine... for some reason, but it would crash every 30 min to an hour. I initially fixed it by rolling back the nVidia drivers to 590.94, but after the recent patch it started crashing again. I updated to latest and I just suffered through it until act 3 where it was crashing every 15 min. Then every 5 min. Then it crashed on launch. I started experimenting with the CPU fixes and found disabling SMT in the bios and limiting the game by 20% with BES fixed it, but it would stutter horribly and it still eventually crashed although less frequently.

I haven't had a crash in over an hour with this new fix, so I'll update if it does.

Edit: ...and it still crashed.

that seems to be the fix
I find it insane that we have to result to downloading third party programs to fix such issues.
