POE 2 Complete PC Freeze while loading screen
The most alarmimng thing about this bug is that it's doesn't just crash path of exile, it locks up and hard crashes your entire PC.
When Windows doesn't shut down properly there is a small chance of data corruption of important files that can cause stability issues on your PC in general. In this thread there are people who encounter this bug like once an hour. One guy said he had crashed 25 times like this. I bought a new laptop to play this game and crashed 4 times in 2 hours so at this time it's not a risk I'm willing to take. At this point the bug has been around since early access launch(probably longer according to some people). This makes the situation urgent. If GGG can't find an outright solution for this problem their top priority should be to implement safeguards so your entire PC doesn't crash when PoE does. Someone else suggested staggering the data stream on loading screens so your entire PC doesn't freeze. I'd be way more comfortable with playing the game if only the game crashed or I could kill the process when the game locks up. I realize BES works for some people but we need an official solution from GGG so that your entire PC doesn't crash. The current situation where your customers run the risk of data corruption from a simple game crash is not reasonable. If nothing else it would be appropriate with a message of caution from GGG to not keep playing through these hard crashes for the people who encounter them often. I have had non stop hard crashes when loading since launch and been unable to play for more then 10 mins.
After relatively recent BIOS upgrades my motherboard resets and defaults the power target (PPT)of my Ryzen 7 5800x AMD CPU to a ridiculous 395w. I have just limited this as well as EDC and TDC to a more realistic target of 110w within the BIOS and the crashes have stopped. So in my case i am willing to say CPU/system instability was the culprit. POE 2 load screens are the only software i have found in 4 years with this CPU/MOBO/RAM that has been able to induce this instability |

They have to solve this problem very soon. my whole pc locked up.. I haven't had this for 10 years++ and i play a lot games.
Thats not good for the hardware and my frustration is on a high level. i spend 30 bucks for a broken game that could maybe kill my whole pc. PLS FIX THIS FAST |

Hello folks.
Here is a sort of a solution that made my game stable, well, at least I managed to finish the whole act without crashes. - Set all the "Detail" graphical settings to minimal (I left texture to max since it doesn't usually affect shaders, multithreading disabled as well). - Close the game - Clean the cache folders (C:\Users\{UserName}\AppData\Roaming\Path of Exile 2\*Cache*, do not delete the folder themselves, just the content) - Make the game unable to write to cache folders, you can create a separate user for the game and disable write access for him, the reason - to make game unable create cache - Clean up graphical device cache (I have NVidia so it was C:\Users\{UserName}\AppData\Local\NVIDIA\*Cache*) - Disable graphical device cache (NVidia Control Panel -> 3D Settings -> Shader Cache Size - set to Disable, not 100 GB or whatever) - Launch the game, make sure no cache is created (in C:\Users\{UserName}\AppData\Roaming\Path of Exile 2\*Cache* and C:\Users\{UserName}\AppData\Local\NVIDIA\*Cache*) - Try playing Additionally, if your game crashes at launch - try running PackCheck.exe from the game folder Last edited by fenixvrn#7710 on Dec 13, 2024, 3:52:44 PM

+1 after last patch looks like its happens more often.
I noticed this its happens on Poe1 to some time. I will try disable the multithread CPU, if it works but the quality is shit without it. Would be nice some update on this from GGG/ Can't restart PC everytime this happens MB: MSI PRO B650-S Wifi CPU: Ryzen 7 7800X3D GPU: Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4070 12 GB RAM: Kingston FURY Beast 64 GB (2 x 32 GB) DDR5-6000 CL30 Memory |

My son having issues too with game crashing during loading screens. He plays on pc with a controller. Without the controller the issue goes away. I know it doesn't provide an answer but maybe something to try if you are using controller.

Also having the same issue, total pc freeze, will avoid game until fixed.
i513400F 2500mhz 10core 4060 playing most low/mid setting and DLSS for reference if it helps devs. |

Can confirm after a long play session last night that turning off multithreading stops the freezing, but it's not fun playing at 30-40 FPS. GGG needs to address this ASAP.
