Difficulty

I'm in act 1. Difficult, but just enough to be challenging.
I'm ok with it. I prefer it to the mindless hack and slash destroying everything. I feel I have to actually be strategic with my choices, and take the enemies seriously and not just like im slaughtering sheeps.
I've completed act 1 and I don't think this is the game for me yet. I have several thousand hours in poe 1, I think it is the best game in its category and there is not much to improve. However, the second part led me to the "so-called rage quit".
The difficulty level is unsatisfying and irritating. I understand that boss fights are supposed to be difficult and demanding, but on the other hand they should be fair. The boss has its own mechanics and the player should learn them - agreed... but what is the mechanic when in middle of the fight, a horde of bullet sponges rushes into the arena and presses you against the wall. No skill will protect you from this, your character at this stage lacks skills and equipment, all you can to do is grind at low levels to improve your statistics by a few% and barely stay alive.

Another problem is the respec of skills - the new gem system does not allow you to quickly adapt to the boss - if you slip up and choose the wrong gems, you can either create a new character or farm stupidly in the hope that you will drop a few gems to replace your skills.

For now, as I feared, the game does not suit my tastes, although I am a huge fan of the first part.

not everything has to be lds to be great.

google tanslator - sorry

Shouldn't ggg have made it on the easier side to begin with. Because first impressions are important. Makes me think the game is intended to be difficult, slow, and boring.
It's not even hard, that's the problem. It's just tedious and unfun to play, which is way worse.

Maybe everything changes in endgame or when you can put together actual builds and gear, but why have people play something not fun until then? The gameplay should be fun from the get go, not become bearable only after some arbitrary milestones.
its because everyone wants everything to be dark souls. they took alot of dark souls inspiration here and it didn't pay off well. It is a bit too slow, but the monster respawns are just bad. Boss's health restarting isn't a deal breaker on its own, but they also decided to copy the multi stage bs from DS as well, so that's not great. It is definitely on pace with poe1 ruthless, which, 75% of people avoided.

i loved Ruthless, but this game just feels clunky to me. the wasd is god aweful and there is some functionality loss when using mouse movement so you have to account for that

Agreed. I just cannot do WASD (arthritis) and mouse movement is horrid, clunky, even keybinding for attack in place is awful. Character moving when you don't want it to is stupid.

I do not and will not use TFT.

I'm OK with the difficulty.

Just logged off to get some sleep. Level 13. Dropped 1 rare (that I couldn't use), and my gear still consists of white items in some places, as I haven't dropped enough magic items, orbs or gold to improve the situation. So I'm not really feeling the progression, as my character isn't improving.

But the click-to-move seems "off", and actually feels better in PoE 1. I REALLY miss the attack-in-place checkbox on every skill we have in PoE 1.

Monk specific: Clearing is fine, as I'm generating enough power charges to make my skills feel impactful. On bosses, where I can't generate them, I feel mostly useless. It's feels like I'm tickling the bosses with my non-damage staff, no power charges and a dodge roll that is too short and too slow.

PoE 2 absolutely have the potential to be the king of the genre, but it has a VERY long way to go to get there, as it maybe should, as this is only an EA. All that remains now, is to see if they're willing to listen to feedback, or if this is the experience they want us to have.
Sometimes, just sometimes, you should really consider adapting to the world, instead of demanding that the world adapts to you.

ok so i'm not sure how you guys are struggeling THIS much, but maybe try to not stand in stuff? I guess i'm having an easier time since i'm playing merc then you guys do but you have to bob and weave, enter combat then dodge when enemies are trying to attack you? from my experience, this reads as in "i want to stand in enemy attacks and never try to dodge at all"?

That's exactly what they're doing. They're playing non-tank classes and trying to tank hits.

If you don't want to dodge, try getting a shield? Just a thought.
I never got far in poe1. I was really pumped for poe2. This is really too difficult for me. I beat all the souls/elden ring games and had no problem. This, well this is a bit much. I'll come back when it's at full release.
Bosses have way too much health. By act 2 I'm just repeating the same 2 or 3 mechanics for 5-10 minutes.

This is not fun. It's extremely tedious.
