Add some defensive nodes like energyshield and put a shield on. Maybe respec, try different skill and don't spec everything into damage. That's not poe1 nor diablo-like game. And it's still early access. Calm down

POE2 is the best ARPG I've played to date since I played D1 at around 13yrs old.
The launch was the smoothest to date, considering modern gaming launches. The passive tree is immediately accessible because you're really not looking at the whole tree -unless you're a content creator- so your choices are actually really organic if you're trying to make a build "your own". And if you're just going to copy a build anyway, then it's also no problem because you just follow along. This was one of the largest barriers to entry for people who wanted to try POE1. The gameplay mechanics are absolutely excellent for ARPGs. The slower pace of combat really highlights some interesting enemy designs/mechanics and patterns. The boss fights feel like much smoother versions of the Lost Ark Guardian fights; in short, they've really nailed the feeling of a Soulslike in the context of an ARPG. If you love Monster Hunter games, for example, you'll feel right at home here. Personally, I think the difficulty is just right. It rewards patience and practice and it never feels unfair like, for example, Vanilla D4 Lilith mechanics. It'll only get better with polish. I hope everyone's having fun and I really look forward to growing with this community as we journey together. |

I took part in the POE original beta and I really am not a fan of the dodge mechanic. I tried 3 characters before I could even sort of feel like I could do anything. The game felt mostly unplayable to be honest. It is too difficult. The firey pincushion creature in the starting area killed me multiple times.

Welcome to PoE 1 ruthless mode 2.0 . Also, I know this is early access but... with how much they have borrowed from PoE1 you would think they would have a key combo to swap out gear if you get an upgrade drop. Nope, unless I'm missing something you have to drag it to the slot. This was not ready for EA.

The early levels as a warrior are way too hard for me. I am out.

You guys think you're struggling, but you know nothing until you experienced a spell caster. Any melee or ranged attacker has the benefit of LOTS of added flat damage from weapons, gloves, runes and even rings. A spell caster has none of those.
I'm doing a monk spell caster and it's horrible. I'm level 20 and I'm truly suffering from DPS. I'm running orb of storms, fire wall, spark, SRS and even skeleton warriors as minions because I was lucky and looted a unique chest that gives me +100 spirit. Even so, it really blows. I get killed all the time and it's a real suffer. I've been complaining the whole time throughout my game play. It really is too harsh. Also, all these different kind of wands sucks. I want a wand to boost my spark, not a wand that gives me mana drain and +2 to physical skills. What is this even? Phyiscal skills on a wand? Is it for that bone skill or what? I find this feedback very strange. I feel the game is too easy and I definitely dislike that you still move while casting - it feels kind of bad and removes the "cast and stand still" vs "roll" vs "run away" decisions that should have to be made while you play.
To me, this is just shaping up to be another spam your abilities game and d4 has mind-numbing gameplay WELL covered. Lightning Sorceress - act2 Last edited by tdonov5#2743 on Dec 6, 2024, 9:44:46 PM

I have to agree with some others above in this thread where, a) the game is in early access and some polish for launch would absolutely do some wonders. b) navigating and reading up in the passive skill tree to angle for defensives would be beneficial.
I've played all manner of souls-like, arpg-like games from PoE1, Grim Dawn, Last Epoch, Lost Ark, Diablo 2-4, and this feels the best out of them all. It has vast potential the others could only dream of. Is it perfect? No - a sprit option would be appreciated, lol. But the fine tuning of this game feels excellent. It feels rewarding; playing Witch and Merc. It's beautiful - very grim dark. And the boss fights are the best in the business. I have taken the time to full clear maps, right up to the boss fights... And that's been extremely beneficial for being prepared for that "end of level" benchmark. Getting gold, receiving gear; even a Unique, and tons of magic/rare items have made it possible, and barely a sweat. It's been fun. Will this game be for everyone? No. But should difficulty be altered for game-journo mode? No. If you are having problems, check out a guide, maybe they can help you right a wrong. I can't wait to see what the development of this game into Launch. It's got growing room, but absolutely a solid foundation to be ARPG of the decade. GGG has set the standard. Good luck Exiles, and have fun in your adventures! |

" Yea, I think most of us who are having issues are playing melee characters. |

I'm hardly a "hardcore" gamer, but I'm finding the difficulty to be almost exactly right. Monsters are dangerous and require you to actually fight them, and a couple of the bosses have killed me a couple of times while I figured out their move sets, but only one boss fight so far felt oppressive. The difficulty isn't anywhere near a soulsborne, or anything; if anything, it feels exactly like early PoE's difficulty, and I'm loving it.
It is very different from the pace of PoE1, where most monsters are trash mobs that pose no thread to the player at all and basically exist only to fill your flasks, so if you're coming in with that expectation it might feel like a slog. All I can advise is that people don't try to race through the game: take your time, explore each area, kill all the monsters you find, and level up a few times, and the game's difficulty becomes entirely manageable. EDIT: Playing monk, BTW, so I don't think that melee is a problem, either. Living the Hollow Palm live, and loving it. Stay sane, exiles! Last edited by NicknamesOfGod#1810 on Dec 6, 2024, 9:49:38 PM
