Hard crashing PC locks up

It is not Windows. It is not peoples hardware. It is not fking unstable intel cpus or windows defender like that one guy yesterday.

It is path of exile. It only happens with path of exile 2, and reportedly poe1 can't confirm tho.

GGG needs to fix it.

I can 100% confirm it's happening with POE1. I stopped playing POE2 just because the game is too much of a mess for me atm. Been playing POE1 for the last week and a half. Tried all the various fixes. Nothing has really solved the issue. The full pc crashes are happening in both games regardless of the fixes.

The most success I have had so far with my 7800x3D is using AMD Adrenalin to constantly clear the shader cache, running on 556.14 nvidia drivers, and changing: Vulkan/OpenGL present method to Prefer Layered on DXGI Swapchain, in NVIDIA Control Panel 3D settings for POE.

This so far has eliminated the crashes but still get lots of fan noise from cooling the CPU during load screens. So, I am honestly just waiting to see how long it takes the crashes to return.
Hard crashing PC is our ACT 1 boss

Below is our act 2 boss:

"Continuous Stuttering/Lag Despite Stable FPS and Internet in PoE 2 Early Access"

This is a working fix for the hard crash / game freeze issues.

This tool automates this process. By monitoring the client.txt file, it detects the start and end of loading screens. During loading, it dynamically adjusts the PoE 2 process affinity to exclude CPU0/CPU1, preventing the crashes. Once loading is complete, it restores the affinity, allowing the game to utilize all cores.

While this solves the initial Windows freeze issue, some players still experience in-game freezes. Setting the PoE 2 process priority to "Realtime" has been found to resolve these in-game freezes. Therefore, when run as administrator, this tool also monitors for these freezes. If detected, it temporarily sets the PoE 2 process priority to "Realtime" to force recovery, then returns it to normal priority afterward. This provides a more robust solution for both system and in-game freezes.

Has anyone noticed it's only settlers with this issue? I was able to play standard from beginning to end of story and up to t3 maps with no issues at all, t3 cause that's when I wanted to make a new character. As soon as I started the league I noticed I had a lot of slow downs and now PC crashes after act 1 final boss.
Hey All, Here is the FIX that is working for me:

Enter BIOS - disable Intel HyperThreading technology / SMT (if you have AMD CPU).

I am playing for 3-4 days and no problems. Before that, game was freezing every time.

System:
i9 9900k OC
32 gb ram ddr4 , 3600 cl 14
RX 7900 XT

Windows 11 pro 24h2

Game settings: all default - only FSR (performance) and Vulcan, fps set to: 60.
