Hard crashing PC locks up

Guys,
Do you know if there is a correlation between those crashes and stand alone game client vs steam client?
I’m on steam and game crashes for me.

I am on stand alone and games still crashes

stand alone client crashes
steam client crashes
epic client crashes
amd users as well as intel users crash
people with windows 11 24 update as well as update 23 and windows 10 crash.

and don't tag me saying you have update 23h and don't crash because in other threads there is an massive amount of people who are crashing so maybe you just got lucky.

the only fix that worked for me so far is using BES with -1% cpu usage, I hate that I have to do it every time I open the game but at least I can play the game without issues.

If you really want to you can automate it by creating a shortcut to the executable and then putting it in the "Start-up" folder for Windows so BES starts up every time you boot up your Windows; it's located here:

C:\Users\<yourUserName>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

For the shortcut itself you have to edit the "Target" part of it to work. Mine looks like this since it's in my OneDrive folder ( so it doesn't get lost ) but obviously these paths may / will vary for you depending on where the "BES.exe" is located and where you have installed Steam on your drives.

This is my example as it's set up currently in the "Target" line:

C:\Users\<myUserName>\OneDrive\Documents\bes_1.7.9\BES_1.7.9\BES.exe "D:\Steam\steamapps\common\Path of Exile 2\PathOfExileSteam.exe" 5 -a -m

First part: Path to your "BES.exe" ( where you unzipped BES or moved it to )
Second part: Path to your "PathOfExileSteam.exe" ( PoE2 install directory in Steam basically )
Third part: Parameters for running it ( "5 -a -m" )

Explanation of those parameters:

5 = percent reduction of CPU usage ( in your case that would be 1 since you used 1% )

"-a" = add the executable to the watch list; means that whenever PoE2 opens it'll automatically reduce max CPU usage without you having to do anything manually at all; it's like a detector if the game is running at all

"-m" = start minimized when you boot up the app ( since I added this to Windows start-up I don't want it cluttering my screen space every boot )

I hope that clears up everything. This might seem a bit more complicated but if you really would like to use BES every time you start PoE2 this might be the most elegant solution.

Thank you so much for this. I might've found another method too using Lasso, I created a new power plan and set the maximum processor usage 99% then made the profile auto run with POE, so far it's working great and I get much better fps this way than BES. Thanks a lot for the method though.
Me and my friend got same prebuild PC-AMD 7500f+nvidia4070
Both Windows 11, me crashing nonstop everyday with 24H2 update even in vulkan.
My friend got 23H2 and he didnt crash a single time.
"
Go to the task manager -> right click on POE2 -> go to details -> right click on POE2 again -> set affinity -> deactivate CPU0 and CPU1

i tested it and since then no crashes

I tried this and yeah seemed okay cpu usage around %50-60 BUT CPU TEMP around 90-93 Celcius(my cpu temp was generally around 75-80C when playing this game) in molten vault map i got 120-140 fps. However In Ziggurat Encampment i got 70-90 fps but got constant suttering like heavy lagging and my CPU TEMP gets around 97C cpu usage around same.
Like i said when i didnt set affinity thing my CPU usage gets %99 and then game crashes. This method seems okay but CPU TEMPS are going crazy and i dont want to melt my CPU...
All these issues happened after the game patch and windows(KB5048667)patch. I did patches same time so im not sure which one is causing the problem but i uninstalled windows patch and tried but got crash again.
I had the logging screen hard crash issue but i solved the issue with changing vulkan from dx12.

My Specs:
RTX 4060(mobile)
Ryzen 7 7840HS
32GB DDR5 5600mhz
Windows 11 Home updated(24h2)

I'm running Windows 23H2, and I crash regularly too just when playing POE2

Edition Windows 11 Pro
Version 23H2
Installed on ‎10/‎5/‎2022
OS build 22631.4602
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22700.1055.0

The crashes are not exclusive to 24H2. I've never even had 24H2 installed. It never showed up as a download option for me in Windows Update.

Is 24H2 brand new or something? Curious why my system doesn't have it when a lot of other people do?

Either way, it obviously isn't causing my crashes.

Windows 11 23H2 (Steam), AMD 5800X3D, RTX 4070 Ti Super 16GB, 32BG DDR4 3200, Samsung 980 Pro SSD
Just found this by accident.
5 long days here on Ryzen 7700XT , never crashed.

Win11 up to date.
If crashes are happening it might be only related to x3D cpu's.
my bad 2 times posting same thing sorry. How can i delete this.

You guys need to stop inventing these things.
I have a 2700X and these crashes happen.

I keep reading these takes here that 'it's only X CPUs', 'it's only X windows'.

You can read right here that there are conflicting reports about your theories.
