One shot at the boss per instance

maybe i am wrong here but poe2 atlas progression looks alot like last epoch monolith system, well not alot, but there are similarities, so i assume you just wont get any "extra" whatever that would be in poe2, prolly the extra content you get from the lighthouse/watchtower stuff wont reapear, but i am very certain you can go again in that map, otherwise someone extremly bad would brick themself very early forever on any atlas progression

I assume logout macros won't be a thing in PoE2, needs confirmation tho

I think they said if you log out (solo) it just freezes your game and logging back in will leave you exactly where you left it?
Alt F4 closing the game will do the same probably?

I don't actually know how that will work in multiplayer instances though.

Not every map will have a boss in it, but yes, Jonathan and Mark have confirmed that bosses are one-shot in the end game, just like they are in the campaign - presumably failing one will also fail that map, since dying in any map will fail that map, meaning that you'll need to path around it in the end game thereafter. You still have six portals for each map, but that's only for hauling back your loot - no more "six-portal defense" builds.

Disconnecting (or ALT-F4ing) will save your progress in the game, and resuming will return you to exactly where you were when you disconnected so no more logout macro shenanigans.

In multi-player, you'll be able to resurrect your team mates, but the time required increases every time you do.

i have no good source for this , but how i understand it you still have the portals and if you fail them all then the map is failed .

so its not just you walk in die , its over .

That said that whole system is stupid , only thing i didnt like .

A one shot as in, it resets when you die. But in the campaign, you get to try again immediatly.
And yes presumably, failing a boss will fail the map on the atlas.

I was just wondering about other peoples' opinions whether or not we should have a few more shots then just one for bosses in the atlas. :)
GGG really is inconsistent, or rather random, with their decisions. One one hand they want to attract new and more casual gamers....on the other, they pull out this type of stuff.

I don't hate this idea, but I'm not happy about it either. This just makes it so you spend more time to hunt for the boss so you can try again; assuming you actually know what boss you get (maybe it's linked to the tile set). It basically forces you to play longer than you need; not sure I like that idea.
I think this will only increase frustration over time. Luckily this is still Early Access so we still have hope that it might change with enough feedback.

Is that like really a thing for multiplayer?
If that works in HC then people will just have mules in parties or something, just to res a main char if he dies, lol

At this moment, my assumption is it will actually be exactly this.
You die anywhere in a map, the map locks itself. Even in bossfights.

I wouldn't call the whole system stupid, it does add a sense of gravity.

But yh, like I said, I'd like another chance a little quicker then having to go look for the same boss before I get to try again.
We do know where they are right now, but they intend to add multiple diff bosses to the same map for diversity later.

Yeah, I'm of the same mind here. I don't really do threads or forums and I honestly think most of the game is amazing from what I've seen.
Just hoping this sort of sparks a little bit of conversation to maybe get looked at.
We still have to play it to get a feel for it. And if they decide after EA it was the right call, I'll be fine with it.
Right now I'm just hoping they don't reduce boss difficulty after EA and just increase the tries when people complain about bricking boss maps too often.

That was a little bit of a simple take. It's not that simple.
But I'd rather they stay hard and I'm scared they might decide against it.
And then obviously, I would be itching to try again if I'm being an idiot and die immediatly. In the end I'm just a player, not a pro gamer, I don't have 100% focus all the time ^^'

I could be wrong, but I swear they changed the wording the last time they discussed that. It sounded more like you will log back in at the last checkpoint you passed, as opposed to the exact instant of the game you were in. So logging during a bossfight would have you log back in to the checkpoint of the fight starting, as opposed to the second before you were about to be slammed to death.
