PoE2: One death in map and its bricked.

you haven't even tried it. relaaaaaaaaaaaaaax.

it's actually way better IMO. it will force you to be much more careful and tactical. more focused.

it allows GGG to make the game more fair, and have less dumb random deaths like in POE 1. if you die, you deserve it. go back and relevel and regear.

You are 100% we haven’t tried it but it’s clear from what we have seen in GGG Live and interviews after that this will be a problem to new and less experienced players. That means player loses and that’s less revenue.

You are clearly a veteran player with many characters in current poe1 league alone, yet you think that (even if there not there in EA) that these ‘random’ deaths won’t show one day in the future. We both know better.

Finally, as per my last first post edit. Bosses reset on death, they have made a big deal about this, yet if we die and map bricks (whether it’s a boss map or not) then bosses only effectively reset in campaign which is when and where we are (and more so new players) learning. This is not good, bosses resetting should have value in both campaign and maps and with one portal the feature is redundant.

If anything it should be the reverse and not reset in campaigns but does reset in maps and we get 6 portals. I’d also (said many times) be very excited to see this ‘one portal’ as a selectable (like ssf) additional challenge mode, just not as default in the easiest mode of softcore.

I'm not concerned with GGGs revenue, how many players play, newbie retention rates etc. That's their internal issue. I'm concerned with the quality of the game and how it meets my own personal standards.

My point is simply this: chill on the critiques until you've tried the game. You might be pleasantly surprised. It's just a week away and your augment will have more merit if it's genuinely a problem during your play and you can give examples why it doesn't work.

If you play it, and the issue hurts your experience then by all means give your criticism. Right now it's just smoke in the wind (just like my opinion that it's an improvement).

Don't put too much energy into hypothetical arguments. Wait a week.

Yep it's a terrible idea and is beyond stupid.

this is sadly true. this mechanic is intended to reward precise execution of telegraphed moves, and punishes random interactions that require improvisation and creative approach. this is why soul games are very popular recently, and this is the crowd they want to expand to

I agree with you, it’s no way going to change before EA but I suspect this thread will take off in a big way once it arrives.

An excellent point but I am not sure ‘souls-like’ is the target they’re aiming for. Guess we will find out.
If there are no random interactions of the ‘off screen death’ type I’m delighted, think we both know better and if not immediately they will arrive eventually.
I agree, I don't understand what they are thinking with doing this. It's like coming up with "changing" things for the sake of change while disguising it as making the game harder for no reason.

Let us zoom out more. Bring back 32:9, Heist Alt Quality Gems, Gear Enchanting, Prophecy, Metamorph & Crucible. Stop removing content from the game. Stop nerfing everything. Stop making the game slow
I believe this will be punitive vs persons who not as social, for example persons who are shy, or prefer solo play - or for other reasons dont/wont have a group of allies in POE 2.

GGG does have a long history of forcing Hard Core Modality (Trials of ascendency as an example) on people. Except, other then the XP & time loss you weren't out anything permanent.

Another point, not everyone has the same goal or play style. I like making all sorts of experimental and different builds. Since they dont always do well in mapping sucks to be me I guess.

I'll have to wait and see in order to have a final opinion till then it is just something I anticipate will taste bad and smell worse.
