Boat league = Fix trade?!

Boats are used for trading, does this mean that trading is being fixed this league???

There's nothing to "fix". Sure, it can be improved - but no system is perfect, so there will always be people asking for a "fix" no matter what they do.

Automated trade: "Please fix trading, bots are sniping ALL items/currencies and there's nothing I as a seller can do about it. Sure, I don't really care who I sell to, but I will probably care the moment I have to buy something..."

This problem will be 2467 times worse than in vanilla D3, as PoE is a F2P game. And "we already have bots" isn't a valid argument, as it will become a lot worse when it's automated.

But improvements? Sure.
1) Move the search engine into the game
2) Add a "mailbox" to the hideout.
3) When someone whispers you for a trade, you get a pop-up on your screen saying "trade request". Pressing this would bring up an "accept/decline" option. If you accept, the item would be available for the buyer to pick up from your hideout when he/she has added the correct amount of currency into it.

The two most important things to keep in a trade system, are:
1) You should HAVE to be online/logged in to trade
2) You should physically HAVE to accept the trade

Other than that, I don't really care what they do with trading.

Sometimes, just sometimes, you should really consider adapting to the world, instead of demanding that the world adapts to you.

If this will be a trade league...

There's a 10% chance that the ship will sink every transaction.

Another 10% pirates steal your item(s) and/or currency during trade.

It will be the return of cut-throat.

And you will have to walk the plank (into the void) if you run out of currency.

Agree with everything Phrazz said.

Learn how it works instead of asking for a change.

OMG I thought of that too!
If by trade you mean stone for wheat, sure. That might be "fixed."

I get this is just your opinion, but it might be helpful to understand your reasoning? I think we have been down the trade discussion road before, but I cannot recall if you ever clarified the details in why you believe these are most important.

Plenty of games have functional AH systems, which include these? If anything PoE and the Trade Manifesto are wildly out of date/touch with the state of gaming and availability of tools. (TFT as an example)

What does it matter if an item sells when I'm not logged in, or why do I have to personally meet up with someone?

Imo "trade friction" is based on unrealized & unrealistic fear of... idk... something happneing? I mean Hell at worst the economy is temporary, never more than 3 or 4 months before a reset. Even if it was a total fucking disaster (which explain how that looks), it's certainly not permanent.

Trade Manifesto...

First of all, I couldn't care less about the Trade Manifesto.

I like the idea of trading, and I like that there is a fluctuating economy. Looting, crafting, selling and buying weapons are part of the game. They are all mechanics within the game, and I think being logged in/playing the game should be a requirement to... Well... play, especially progressing - which trade is a part of. I think trade should be an active part, not a passive one.

People always come with "lots of games have a working AH", but no one can ever bring forth an example of an ARPG with a successful AH. There are reasons for that, ranging from RNG, itemization, the game having an actual fluctuating/changing economy and keeping crafting relevant. I think it's almost ignorant to assume that an automated, offline-enabled AH would work "fine" in an ARPG. I NEVER felt it worked fine in D3, and I think the drop experience suffered a lot.

Should we have offline crafting too? Boss-killing? Map-clearing? Three very stupid questions, but that's how I feel trade should be: An active mechanic.

Look, I get it, people don't want to think about trading and just want it to be automated, so they don't have to spend time, effort, checking prices and so one and just "play the game". But I think trading is part of playing.

Now, I could also go into how bots thrive in an automated system, especially in a F2P game, but it shouldn't be necessary. "We already have bots" isn't really an argument for making it worse.

So, I hope that cleared up my stance on the matter and answered your question(s).

Edit: Regarding PoE 2's system; it seems decent, and as far as I know, it's more "AH'ish", but it requires drop-only currency to take part in, it seems - which is good. The only way an automated system could work, is to bring some sort of cost to it - and when that cost is drop-only, it's better. We'll see how they have to tune and balance the difficulty of the game, drops and progression with access to instant trading - and how powerful crafting can be in that environment, as well as the economy. I'm interested, and I'm neither pessimistic or optimistic.

Sometimes, just sometimes, you should really consider adapting to the world, instead of demanding that the world adapts to you.
