Insane Latency Spikes and Game Crashes since 3.23

3. Clear your client's config files.
It is possible some non-default setting is causing your problem. Removing the client config files will restore default settings. The config files are located in the below locations:

PC (all types): %USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Path of Exile
macOS (beta): ~/Library/Caches/com.GGG.PathOfExile/

The easiest option is to move the entire folder to a backup location to test this solution. Moving the folder will also clear the client's cached data (see above).

I also cleared the cache folder in "%AppData%\Path of Exile" however that change alone did not fix the issue, but may be worth doing as well

**Note that this will reset all keybinds and other settings, which is a pain but better than crashing. Hope this works for you guys too

There is nothing you can do client-side to fix this issue. It's their servers/netcode. It's a problem that was introduced with the last few patches.

I, like you, spent hours messing around with my system trying to troubleshoot what was happening. I rebooted/reset my router many times, and that seemed to fix the problem... for a few minutes, as did a bunch of other things I tried. It's coincidental and seems like it's makes a difference because the problem comes and goes, and is in some instance and not others. But it's on GGG's side, not ours.

The proof for this - apart from the fact that the game has worked without issue for years up to this point - is jumping around between areas. One area will work flawlessly, another instance/area has the issue. The issue also disappears during slow times, and immediately reappears during busy times.

The first time the issue appeared for me, the login challenged me with the message that I was trying to log in from a different location. I wasn't. I closed the game, and restarted it, and entered normally. Then I had horrible lag where the ping meter was going up and down wildly.

So please, don't respond with well meaning but ultimately useless disinformation. All you're going to do is confuse people and possibly have them mess up their install. GGG have a problem and need to find and fix it.

same here.
Spend hours on configurating client, but it looks like the lag-spikes are particular on some map-instance, on some, they dont't. Seems for me server-sided and just want to add with this post a "+" to the counter "I have the same problem".
Really fun juicing your map for 80c only for it to be unplayable. There is more than enough evidence in this and other threads that shows that this is a GGG issue and NOT ISP/client related but they don't care.
I was thinking about buying one of the new core packs but you just saved me a good chunk of money, thanks GGG!
The game lag and crashes are insane for the last 2 leagues at the very least. But even then I could play.
I played yesterday and all was okay-ish but today I can't even log in.
I click my character -> loading screen -> game crashes to desktop with no error.
I reinstalled the game and it didn't help. Guess the league is over for me. I already could only play for 2-3 days a week because of a very busy schedule. I wish I wouldn't buy any supporter packs or MTX tbh
Same with me, spike ping when cyclone make me freeze (not ailment). Since 3.23. Singapore realm.
Having the same issues.

Some times lag spikes even in town where you cant do anything about it.

I know its not a client sided issue, I checked everything from game data to routing.

Also if it were client sided the solution wouldn't be to reopen instances.

Is there any information from the devs? It would be nice if there where any official statement on this.
I for now bring all my chars to 70 cause I dread the moment I wanna try mapping and cant cause ever second map is unplayable.
Same for me, yesterday i lost 3 maps at it :(
Pls do something guys..
Same here. Some instances are flawless.
Others are unplayable, mostly the juced ones.
Normaly i spend money for suporterpacks, but i cant do this this time!!!

First i was thinking the problem is by my side. Got a new graphic card, new mainboard, new network card ect.

Still the same.

Lost a lot of maps and im not able to play HC.

GGG please fix or no money any more. Diablo is shit but playable!
Same for me. Some instances work completely fine other lag spike to the Moon. It started after the first day of affliction and some Maps are unplayable with up to 30000ms. My Internet connection is fine.

you can try or not but dont say its disinformation, its a maybe solution, its up to the user to try it out or wait till ggg fix that problem. like i said it worked for me and i was thinking just the same like you its not client-side problem, well now i know better...
