Those of you who are worried that PoE2 is straying too far from its roots...

@auspexa:

1) I am not claiming it is vastly different. In fact, I don't know. Neither do you. That was the point I was making. You're making assumptions. Gameplay during the story in PoE1 is also much, much slower than when you start blasting through maps

2) I also didn't say the endgame is the same. The reasons why they are separate games are many. PoE will retain the current currency system while PoE2 will have entirely new balance, new orbs, new everything. It makes sense to keep PoE1 the way it is for the audience that is there for that, and offer a new experience with PoE2 for those who want something different

And it would really help this conversation if you were more charitable and didn't put words in my mouth

Why would they only show acts in teasers and showcase videos if the endgame is vastly different as you claim? Does it make any sense to advertise a product in this manner?

Is PoE1's endgame not vastly different from early acts?

put lvl up gear and do campaign. how different is that from maps. apart that you dont have same number of mobs and mobs a weaker
The PoE2 showcases are very obviously not done with level up gear, so I don't see how this is relevant.

I just don't get why GGG thinks Path of Exile 2 can attract the people who enjoy the current, fast-paced iteration of Path of Exile.

They're not trying to do that.

That's the whole point of separating the two games. PoE1 will remain PoE1 with its stupid ludicrous zoom zoom gameplay, for the people who enjoy that. PoE2 is specifically designed for the people who don't like that about PoE1.

Stop. Look. Think. Are you just jealous that the new game isn't being made for you, even though you will still have the old one?

If they're not trying to do that, then they shouldn't force-feed us with Path of Exile 2 information at every opportunity. The announcements should be separated, just like the games are. I shouldn't be hearing about Path of Exile 2 on a stream I'm watching to learn about 3.23.

Like, why are they even tweeting about Path of Exile 2 on the Path of Exile Twitter account if they're not trying to do that? Just make a new account, it's a freaking different game. Or tweet about it on the GGG account instead. Does Blizzard tweet about Overwatch 2 on the World of Warcraft account?

It's not that I'm not interested in Path of Exile 2, or I'm against slow games. I think Grim Dawn is superior to Path of Exile in almost every way and Grim Dawn is probably the slowest action RPG out there. I also think that the ludicrous zoom zoom gameplay of Path of Exile is bland and boring. It's just that I'm confused about GGG's hypocrisy and the way they're handling this.

I can only think of one reason they could be doing this. They're planning to shut down or stop developing Path of Exile in the long run, maybe in a few years or so, and want as many Path of Exile players to move to the new game in the meantime.

problem is that ppl dont think critically. its GGG so it will be perfect game mind set.

ppl make assumption about poe because thats all GGG managed to marked for ppl. if marketing is all about slow game/combo gameplay/ less crafting/ long boss fights. why do you make opposite assumptions ? its like hei this looks like poop and smells like poop so all tell is poop but you stand up and yell nooo its chocolate you dont know because you did not taste it :D

I am not sure what words I can use to help you understand what I am explaining, and at this point I think that I'll just ask you to read them again, but carefully this time

Ok, well, have fun riding the conjecture train I suppose.

At the end of the day, I think we can all agree on the one fact that no matter how many people will play PoE1 vs PoE2, Dual Strike will still suck in both. ^_^

...take comfort in reminding yourself that GGG just made ranged builds even faster by giving them instahit weapons with no windup.

The proud tradition of shitting on melee continues unabated, and truly, has that not been the core of PoE all these years?

Pretty much, they just ignore melee and if we get a crutch like heatshiver it will be nerfed bcz the range and spell builds use it :/ ...

A company's official marketing channel should be the company's channel itself, or a new channel made specifically for the new game, not their biggest game's channel, except if they want to attract that game's players to their new game. The stream was broadcasted on Path of Exile Twitch channel, not on GGG or Path of Exile 2. The news are announced on Path of Exile Twitter account, not on GGG or Path of Exile 2, which proves my point. From a business standpoint, it makes the most sense to do it this way for GGG, because Path of Exile is their only game and the games are somewhat related, I was just trying to explain why suszterpatt is wrong.

ohman I super duper agree with what you just said! They're two different games! I wonder why a number can't make that distinction

If they overlayed PoE2's systems over PoE1? You can imagine the rage of hellfire over the forums
