Its time for PoE devs to adress performance problems in End-game farming scenarios
There were 3 major changes since I noticed a difference in the performance Clean cache in the new wipe , AN removal (rework) , the new particle system and the following performance patch. It seems that before I was only getting a small lag spike when hitting around 50 monsters at once (spectral throw high attack speed so the screen is full of projectiles) and it seems that the problem comes from herald of ice shatters as that's when the fps starts dipping or the screen freezes. Tried this without herald and it went down in frequency so the particle system might be the biggest problem here. Also any source of explode might cause similar effects (that a lot of people use be it chieftain/profane boom etc.) so the number of people affected is understandable. I will also throw a wild guess here and say GGG might have fucked up and didn't back up the previews particle system and now they are stuck with the one in POE 2. (thinking they won't have any use for it since it was outdated). Last edited by OoReSpEcToO on Nov 28, 2023, 1:34:43 AM

"i super juice my map then double spawn 250+ monsters and my game should perform flawlessly while calculating thousands of chaining projectiles from my TS that has 30 aps" lmfao is this post real? (سಥ益ಥ)س (سಥ益ಥ)س (سಥ益ಥ)س (سಥ益ಥ)س (سಥ益ಥ)س (سಥ益ಥ)س (سಥ益ಥ)س

anyway, since Steam will drop win 7 support. If POE drops support of Win 7, for sure there would be like 0.1% or less affected.
meanwhile for the dropping support of Dx9, 32bit, or older card that does not support newer file compression, every time the solution is move on and just buy a new PC..... (Meanwhile if POE 2 still shutter in new hardware setting, then for sure the devs need to do something) This is the start of forum signature: I am not a GGG employee. " How dropping windows 7 related to bad render. And how do you know? |
|
" because windows 7 systems are ancient pieces of junk so many performance problems would go away by not letting it run on this old crap. | |
Just a few weeks ago I jokingly told my friends, who are not familiar with PoE, that you need a $10k PC to run juiced endgame content, but such content is mostly done by streamers/content creators who actually have $10k PCs, so you could say that the problem solves by itself :D

I mean if your PC still operates on Win7 you can‘t really blame the game for not performing to your expectations. You skipped Win 8, 10 and the new Win 11 for that
The opposite of knowledge is not illiteracy, but the illusion of knowledge.

" same for people using Nvidia 10 gen (anyway just wait and see the POE 2 performance ....I bet it would be terrible in modern hardware anyway) This is the start of forum signature: I am not a GGG employee. About the username: Did you know Kowloon Gundam is made in Neo Hong Kong?

" This is just not true. I run poe on three systems: Windows 7, Windows 10 and ArchLinux. It has same performance problems for years on three different machines. Dropping windows 7 has nothing to its "low" performance (it's same as Windows 10 unless d3d12on7 used), but Google won't support their browser Chromium (it's part of Steam client) on Win7 for security reasons. And yes, shader cache issue appeared on the latest patch. PS Imaging using Win 11 instead of something decent... Okay guys. Last edited by cursorTarget on Nov 28, 2023, 7:41:06 AM

" I'm actually not so sure about that because people tend to have a good GPU and crap CPU for some reason and the biggest update is in the visual of the game (POE 1 might be more complex(including spaghetti code) than POE 2 at launch), so it might run better on worse CPU's . Also engine updates mostly come with performance improvements AND also slower gameplay = less effects and spamming = more performance . Everything points out into the direction of improvement for me. |
