POLL: Did Exilecon increase or decrease your overall hype for POE and POE 2?
Increase for sure, initial plan would just be a patch with new campaign and better graphics, now it's actually a new game without poe1 limitations.

Mixed.
I like the overall look of poe 2 but I prefer some mechanics in poe 1. Having it be 2 separate games will introduce opportunitues but also divide the player base and resources further. We already have standard, league, hc, ssf, ruthless and now they want to basically double that? I can see the first year atleast to be total chaos. |

Strictly speaking for the Hype effect...
For PoE 1 - NO. Since it's no longer gonna drastically change & will remain as it is. For PoE 2 - NO. It's hard to get hype for a game that will be available a year or more from now when there are other games I am also excited about coming out sooner. Watching the PoE2 "announcement" is just like watching a "developer's update" in other games. Having an event like Exilecon or just announcing all these online like what they're doing when they announce new leagues might do the same effect for me. "A game IS supposed to waste your time but it's not supposed to make you FEEL like you're wasting your time:
It's supposed to make you WANT to waste your time." |

Decreased.
I'm now looking for GGG to release a manifesto about POE1s long-term future. Or even just a one-off interview with Chris on someone's stream. I want to know if it's going to be worth investing my time into POE1 anymore. Then if fixes held back for POE2 are going to be brought forward. Also things like if the team on POE1 is going to be smaller than POE2 team. GGG needs to go into a bit more detail. |

Decrease
They've introduced something entirely different with exilecon 2019. They didn't wanted to split the playerbase or throw away all the work they've put into Poe over the decade. Yet they've decided to split not only the playerbase but also the dev team with Poe 1 being on the shorter end of the stick as the "unwanted child" of GGG which is quite visible since a few leagues. Sure Poe 2 graphics look nice and there are a few neat changes, but I'm fully convinced that they could have improved the current Poe to this level without a separate game. The director for Poe 2 is proud of what they've showed off at the exilecon which is fine but they could have easily waited another year with the exilecon to at least ensure that the game is not in need for another year or two of development before they get to release it. Would have been at least 50% less disappointing Flames and madness. I'm so glad I didn't miss the fun. Last edited by Pashid#4643 on Jul 31, 2023, 3:46:38 AM

decrease
I think it "looks" cool but that's where it ends. There a lot of looks cool games out there already. |

increase

Increase for sure. Moment to moment combat was the only major thing PoE wasn't best in the genre at and now PoE 2 looks to have that, while solving some other issues the original has. Glad PoE 1 will stick around for those times I want mindless blasting, but I can see myself playing 2 more.

Decreased.
if theres a slider, i would put GREATLY decreased. poe2 looks sweet and all, but GGG going against what they announced in the first exilecon stating poe2 would be more of poe1. it leaves me so damn salty. [Removed by Support]
