Just adding my voice to those requesting an option for instanced loot (i.e., each player gets his or her own loot, with no timers). This is such a deal-breaker for my friends and me that even though I've received a beta key, I consider it a waste of time to install and learn the game until I'm sure this is going to be included. We don't care if all the rest of Path of Exile is light-years beyond anything else ever created; without instanced loot, we simply won't play.

If you developers decide that you are definitely not going to implement instanced loot, please delete my account and give my beta key to someone else. Thank you.

People do complein about having to resummon their minnions, but to me it just seems like a tradeoff. Price vs. benefit. If you want a lot of minions, resummon them and wait a few seconds for the mana to recharge.

That's one reason Summon Skeletons is so important, especially in those boss fights you mentioned. Get mah 'splodey bonies in there, and it's all good! =^[.]^=


I actually haven't tried this. I just cast them as a distraction and try to do as much damage as I can. I should try this tactic out, but I do worry that it would be a bit of trouble casting something around the screen that might not do as much damage as my primary attack, meanwhile I'm getting hit as well...

But compared to resummoning to further the distractions... eh, maybe so, it might work.


Oh, man! My skellies are actually my main offense with my Necros. Sure, they're slow, but you can cast 'em pretty much where you want 'em, including across obstacles. With a swarm of even a few all juiced with an aura and mebbe an elemental damage support gem, they kick much more tail than you'd think. Throw in Minion Instability, and they're also bombs!

When my Necro's around level 20 or so, a couple handfuls of skellies take down those rock golems fast! Against a swarm of bandits, it's mayhem. And they're so cheap, I recast 'em almost at will. Meanwhile, my zombies tank things, and I can just direct the battle, only occasionally adding attacks of my own, if necessary. Spectres round out the field (love Ape Chieftains for the Frenzy they grant ALL my minions!), and it's like the swarm of dead men Aragorn summoned in ROTK.

I think even the OPTION for instanced loot would upset me. It's more loot than it's supposed to be, and there is no player interaction.
There is nothing more boring and more de-balancing for me. I hate it.

I'm not sure the announced loot system will be good, but I'd rather stay with free for all than to have instanced loot.
Free for all works when your with Friends...It doesnt work with Pickup groups.

What I have noticed in other games, is the LOCKED timer on loot can actually be to short, and 1 member is not participating in the fight, so they you have to stay busy while they pick up loot.

Basically, they are busy clicking the loot while your the only one fighting. What should be yours is now theirs.

I support Loot options in teams...including assigned loot with no timer.

I was really looking forward to June for the Open Beta, too bad. I guess i'll have to keep waiting for the Close Beta invite like the rest T_T...

Timed with the killing-blow player getting the loot first (since his hit was what determined rarity/etc) makes the most sense to me. Giving rangers a chance to swoop in and get the loot they earned is great, but giving a leeching ranger/witch/whatever a chance to swoop in and grab the loot that was randomly decided to be given to them seems dumb. More incentive to create leech accounts so there's no threat of item theft.

Dude ... really?

There's always going to be someone. Trying to be a hardass without even making a point in why they feel it matters.

Get out of here, man. If you're going to be like that about this type of thing, there are going to be a hundred others just down the line. GGG is not here to please every person's outright demands or ultimatums.

Go ahead and leave if you want to; the rest of us will enjoy knowing that GGG are making games and sure, taking opinions into account, but not beholden to some whiny kid's stamping feet.

Obviously we're gonna have to wait and see what the new loot thing does.. but I really, really liked the voting system in Runes of Magic. You could either say you wanted it, or decline. If you said you wanted it, you rolled a dice and then the person with the highest roll got the first go at it.

This also meant that the loot never actually touched the ground unless everyone declined, then it would be free for all to pick it up, making less clutter and less frame rate problems for complex rare items.

It's still random, like your current model but allows for people to at least feel like they had a chance.. it's the same chance.. just presented differently.
