I beg to differ. I can offer limitless feedback on ways to die. It is my forte. I believe you will be happy with the new patch, balance wise. If I can hack it, anyone can :)
I used to be apathetic, now I just don't care.

Basically, they are busy clicking the loot while your the only one fighting
Personally, this is my only issue with FFA loot. As a party member, I want others to pick up items for me and drop them later so as to not waste time. I also do this for the people I party with too. However, if someone is picking up the loot too much and taking ALL the items all the time, then I also think they should be penalised.

I am only talking about a minimal amount of penalisation, not a large amount. Here is what I have in mind:
If someone picks up ANY item that is dropped, for the next 3 seconds, their exp share is reduced.
You would do this by decreasing their 'level' by 0.5 (only a decrease for exp sharing purposes, not an actual decrease) for 3 seconds:
For example, Player A+B are both lvl 15. Player A picks up an item, so he gets 48.6% of the exp, instead of the usual 50% exp, for the next 3 seconds. As a result, player B (the one still killing monsters), gets 51.4% exp during this time.

Best post I've read in a very long time. :) Thank you.
https://linktr.ee/wjameschan -- everything I've ever done worth talking about, and even that is debatable.

Obviously we're gonna have to wait and see what the new loot thing does.. but I really, really liked the voting system in Runes of Magic. You could either say you wanted it, or decline. If you said you wanted it, you rolled a dice and then the person with the highest roll got the first go at it.

This also meant that the loot never actually touched the ground unless everyone declined, then it would be free for all to pick it up, making less clutter and less frame rate problems for complex rare items.

It's still random, like your current model but allows for people to at least feel like they had a chance.. it's the same chance.. just presented differently.

What you are describing simply cannot work in a fast paced loot pinata game like Path of Exile. Rares would make pop ups come up virtually all the time, and whenever a unique drop everyone would select NEED. Even if it was you and only you that killed the monster that dropped it.

FFA with timer is the best solution!
So new release date of the game will be after June? Or i didnt understand something (excuse my english please)?
