To be fair, I am coming from Lost Ark. Played for 1 year on Russia and 700 hours on EU.
I just grew tired of having to log in everyday to do chores, this is Lost Ark's biggest weakness and I will honestly say I am loving PoE. Yes, PoE is grindy too, but not having a time gated feeling on everything and sense of urgency "I must do my chaos dungs today, do my weekly raids for the gold" is so refreshing. I will admit Lost Ark combat is better imo tho and I do hope PoE takes some more MMO elements & some raid ideas in the future. We will see how my enjoyment for PoE ages but I am feeling the hype atm. Ones an MMO and one isn't.
Lost Ark end game now is waiting 2 months for a new boss and repeating the same process doing strict army of dailies to afford honing - unless you swipe. With most of your hearts, masterpieces, tomes and all the potions done there's not much left other than stare @ your army of alts and all the argos, guardians, chaos dungeons you have to repeat ad nauseum. Then you get to enjoy honing from 3% base and watch 2 weeks of mats evaporate. All to just do it again. Lost Ark was amazing fun once you get to 1445+ and have all your alts, then the reality of f2p or spending little = needing hours upon hours of alt dailies to still be way behind of hardcore swipers. However, POE end game has been stale for ages as well. So to be fair they aren't killing anything but themselves. At least with POE you can log in, Lost Ark is easily 2/3 bots, and open world is about 90% bots. Getting 1-2hr queues @ 6am in the morning etc. Then they do a banwave and the bots come back. I've never played an MMO with so many bots and ones that have such an impact to humans. Most games have bots, but LA's "free to play" with full trading system just took it to another level. They don't even properly ban RMT either. Actually it's just a sad affair with gaming, then you look @ what Diablo Immortal is, borderline criminal. As someone with 1.1k hours in Lost Ark and 6 very respectable tier 3 characters including 1 with 4 pc valtan gears I can tell you one thing;
Lost Ark is hotter garbage then New World, yesterday Amazon "accidently" released an insanely OP P2W pack in the store for over 3 hours letting thousands buy it 3 times, then they ninja removed it and literally told everyone else too bad, you werent meant to have it, ever, and the others that got it get to keep it and you are left behind. Obviously at that point I had enough and im looking at some of my old games considering which to return to, thats how I ended up in this thread. Please dont make the mistake we did, there are only about 150k actual players between all servers and regions, the game has over 700,000 bots which gives it its false place on the charts. The bots are so bad western and european players need atleast 4 hours to be able to login because there are so many bot farms in que ahead of them. I wanted to like Lost Ark but I just couldn't stand the "end game".
Everything is time gated - you spend more time playing other characters to support your main character's advancement than you do playing your main. The honing system is just...brain dead. I've never seen a more uninspired or tedious means of advancement in any game. The community in LA is trash also - fail one attempt in a dungeon/raid and half the people quit in rage. Almost 400 hours into it and I want every one of them back. |
