Lost Ark peaked at 1.4 million and lost 300,000 people in 3 days.
Bit early to tell about the long term but...
New World peaked at 980,000 players and is currently at about 38,000 players.
Lost Ark is a fundamentally different game. Sure, you can get everything in the game playing for free, but that isn't how they make their money. It is fundamentally a whalehunting monetization style.
I think they'll absolutely get enough whales to keep the game open unless they manage to make their whales angry.
Meanwhile you're over here trolling saying its a better game without presenting ANY DANGED THING that it does better than POE. The graphics aren't even that good, I'm surprised about how much disk space it takes up honestly. I have Playstation 2 games I can upscale to look better.

People are comparing Lost Ark player counts to New World player counts but Lost Ark is FREE, FREE, FREE. It will be a lot easier for Lost Ark to get new players to "just" try it out.
Lost Ark does quality of life a whole lot better than POE. In Lost Ark I have a pet rabbit that runs around picking up stuff for me. In POE, I'm picking up shards. Not whole currencies. Shards. My necromancer, who has an army of minions, has to pick up stuff off the ground like a hobo.
8 mod maps are the new alch and go.

I have been playing POE since 2013, probably 25k+ hours. In my opinion the game is so much better than it ever has been it isn't even close. Those who think that the old POE was great are living in a dream.

So before 3.14 people used to complain that the game was being ruined by GGG having their game design dictated to them by Tencent. And now they complain that it's being ruined by GGG being too stubborn about their vision. Oh the irony! I guess you people will always find some explanation for what's supposedly ruining the game. Be it outside forces or internal doesn't matter.
