EA Ballistae is the most meta option.
Fire Trap will work fine but traps are somewhat clunky imo.
Hexblast is likely fine.

I would consider Vaal Arc Ignite as the clear on it is superb and damage is still respectable.

Ideally you want something that's not going to require a massive respec later, but that also depends on how much of the Unearth Gear you end up wanting to accumulate first.

Incidentally, a level 21 Base Quality Unearth is still good for 2.560 base fire damage for DD and 3,840 base fire damage for Vaal DD.

To compare, new Fireball at level 20 has average 2k-ish fire damage. If you use a Martyr of Innocence with that and its new 370% added damage effectiveness you're looking at about 4.4k base fire damage on a level 20 Fireball.

Of course, if you have the +5 Unearth Corpse Level Helmet enchant, that alone will bring that damage up to 4,324 and 6,485 base fire damage respectively.

Just some food for thought.
Also, gem level on Unearth is absolutely MASSIVE on lower level gem. For example, the corpse level difference from a level 19 gem and a level 20 gem is 3 corpse levels (77 vs 80).

To put into perspective that's 2,498 (77) and 3,422 (80) with VDD. Approximately 37% more base fire damage.

So, even when looking to switch to Unearth without the alt quality gem, I would want to make sure to get it to at least level 20 after any +gem levels on gear before switching.


Hexblast looks really juicy. Will probably play that for the first week or though.

I want to have +4/5 gloves, alt qual unearth, empower and enhance before switching to DD

In the POB, you put monster corpse life as 312000, but when I search Unearth Corpse Life, at LV90 its about 31200, just wondering is my source outdated or you put one more Zero

Your archmage cremation build carried me harder than any other build, so once I get enough cash I'll definitely transition the leveling version into this.
RE: levelling, some trees with a lot DPS of & enough life that lets us easily switch to DD:

Act 1
Act 2
Act 3 (switched to Arma Brand + Wave of Conviction @ 28, note 2 respec points spent)
Act 4
Act 6
Act 10

I do stormblast mine, orb of storms, frost bomb til 28.

Armabrand, faster casting, combustion, controlled destruction + Wave of conviction, added lightning, combustion, added cold. Skitterbots, herald of thunder. Flame dash, smoke mine, arcane surge. Unearth in off weapon to level.

Then end of Act 4, add ignite prolif and immolate at the expense of controlled destruction & faster casting for armabrand.

Then after clearing strand in Act 6, add second wind to movement links, and update wave of conviction with intensify and added fire instead of added light and added cold. This is also where you can get DPS links to level, and once you have the mana reservation nodes, you can add herald of ash.

We use level 95 corpses with 124% increased corpse life. There's a section on this in OP called "Corpse Life Calculations".

Plus, it'd be pretty obvious if we were doing 10x less damage than expected!

So, my corpses are level 95 (which I can only see up to level 90 on the graph, here

I know that monster life increases by about 11-12% per level so I estimated that it's around 140-150k or so up from the level 90 which is 86,583.

Then there's 20% increased life from the tree and 104% increased life from the phantasmal Unearth, which is a 2.24x multiplier on the life. which ends up being: 326k-ish. Which also means I math'd wrong the first time. *oops*

Did a practice run yesterday and today. Finished acts+all skills+labs+first map cleared in about 5:49. Not too bad for me as I'm not exactly fast.

Most notable difference I think is that I go straight for high ignite damage after first lab and use Cruelty (because hits are still strong in campaign)

I used Armabrand for hextouch+Flammability and to clear trash as I went. Would add ignite prolif had I 4L'd it.

Wave of Conviction was my main DPS skill for ignites.

Cremation on a 4L to supplement damage for single target.

I was also 5:45 - also did a couple of runs this week, having not tried to go fast before (and having not played this build before). First run was 6:15.

I found it awkward to have 3 DPS skills, so just used arma brand on packs I could run past, and WOC on ones I needed out of the way. But I DID use flammability, so perhaps your plan is a better optimisation. Desecrate/cremation feels awkward for me to use though.

yeah the only time I did cremation was on bosses where I'm able to preload them for the fight.

my rotation ended up being:
Arma Brand - run - brand - run - WoC the blue/rare pack - run etc...and just drop a desecrate+cremation on the boss before dropping the brand and WoC.

This was only my 2nd run and first run through all the acts (first was only 5 acts). I'm going to try to get another one in before launch but that might not happen given my daughter's birthday is tomorrow xD

But what I want to try this time around is 4L the Brand with Ignite Prolif and not forget to buy and use Flame Surge.

I think I will also repath my tree to be next to the brand wheel you take as the extra 2 brands and duration will be very good when the activation goes to 1.5s instead of 1 I think.

I very much like the hextouch Armabrand setup. It was very smooth and since I only use the brand for trash clear it works out perfectly. Wave of Conviction also does more damage with ignite.

Herald of Purity is nice for the minions too as they draw aggro away from you. Also works out since WoC is a physical spell so I still get some nice damage from it.

My auras ended up being:
Determination
Herald of Purity
Defiance Banner
Clarity(leveled)

EDIT: For the actual day of launch, I think a Nycta's Lantern would be pretty busted for leveling if found/can buy for like 1c or something.

Arma brand - hextouch - flammability - ignite prolif
Flame surge, conc effect, controlled destruction, ele focus
(movement skills)
(auras)

But no cremation/desecrate. I guess the problem is socket pressure, but with hextouch it doesn't require any more clicking than I'm used to

Perhaps this is something you could get going in time for A7 lab - hextouch boss, wave of conviction him once, then flame surge to DPS him.

Also, intensify isn't a support I want to use as it doesn't add any damage to the ignites. Cruelty is better as it adds to both the hit AND the DOT (I also take the 30% cruelty effect mastery for campaign).

So maybe something like WoC - Combustion - Cruelty - Added Fire (sad that witch doesn't get this in act 1)

As I've done this twice, I am of course not an expert.

I picked intensify because I was using it for boss damage (everything else dies immediately, even rares burn to death from one hit normally, so increased AOE at 0 intensity is nice), but that's less needed if we use something else for boss DPS.

If I were to use flame surge on a totem, I think I'd still want to use WOC to DPS bosses. It does seem a nice simple way to gain dps for e.g. Izaro.

Given that I'm annoyed by desecrate-clicking anyway, adding too much more will probably cause me to break something before the campaign is out. Perhaps myself. I'm already on smoke mine alongside flame dash.

Added fire: I'm hoping I can just ask a guildmate for one, though it's not a huge dps loss to use added cold/light til we clear the strand in A6 I think.

Edit: with your auras, are you able to tank an Izaro shot? I kind of suck at that fight, and died on his final stage in merciless lab. It'd be nice to be able to mess up and not lose 5-10 minutes.
